Miley Cyrus is fuming over recent criticism of her raunchy new image -- insisting there is a double-standard in the entertainment world that allows young male stars such as Zac Efron to strip off onscreen but condemns women who flaunt their assets.

The 17-year-old has been stung by the negative reaction to her saucy new stage costumes and provocative dance routines in recent weeks as she promotes her latest single, "Can't Be Tamed."

Actually, the young woman is merely following the footsteps of many a female entertainer--but she's 17. If she was 22, the press would be all about her 'reinventing' herself. Still, she did the Lolita shots for-- what was it?-- Vogue? a year or so back and I'm assuming she has a manager and 'expert' career advice.

Evidently she see only a small part of the "double standard" and doesn't realize she'll be part of it her whole life. Anyway, big difference between a male taking his shirt off and a female using every body part she has to promote any talent she may have. This girl saddens me, somewhere someone she trusts is handing her a line of bullshit and she's buying into it.

I'm assuming that would be Achy Breaky Dad.

She's always given me the impression that something isn't quite right with her, I don't think she's stupid, but something is definitely throwing off weirdness vibes

she is young, unknowning and no one helping her along, and now as she tries to be this woman that all around her tells her to be, she is criticized.

i dont know why we would expect anything more from our girls.

If a child has no filter... no trusted adult or parent to counter the message that a woman's sexuality is all that she is, then they'll absorb that message. It's only pumped out 24/7 by nearly every media outlet that exists.

I see the tangible results at the college where I work. Girls with their tits hanging out of their tops....hot for club night, not so smart for classes or internships. I want to take them aside and have a talk, but I'd be stepping out of my professional bounds, which would get me in trouble.

Her Dad performed at Sean Hannity's "Freedom" concerts and the Hannity and Fox News "Coal Rally" in WVA in 2009 (which was really to oppose any and all regulation on mining companies, then of course later all those miners got killed). I believe he is a big right winger. That would explain his "parenting style" IMO.
