An example of the *real* reason women must be kept out of power
New US church leader says homosexuality no sin

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Newly elected leader of the U.S. Episcopal Church Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori said on Monday she believed homosexuality was no sin and homosexuals were created by God to love people of the same gender.

Jefferts Schori, bishop of the Diocese of Nevada, was elected on Sunday as the first woman leader of the 2.3 million-member Episcopal Church. the U.S. branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion. She will formally take office later this year.

Interviewed on CNN, Jefferts Schori was asked if it was a sin to be homosexual.

"I don't believe so. I believe that God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into this world with a different collection of things that challenge us and things that give us joy and allow us to bless the world around us," she said.

"Some people come into this world with affections ordered toward other people of the same gender and some people come into this world with affections directed at people of the other gender." (emphasis mine and more at link)

Too many women who have fought the power structure will question and subvert the dominant paradigm. Please take notice of the powerful women speakers who have begun to exert themselves; on both "sides."

You will also note more reports of anti-women and women-are-evil incidents from the corporate media as they try to "put the toothpaste back in the tube."

2. Yup
A bit off your topic and I won't post it again, but there was that national review article, praising Phyllis Schflyy's efforts against the ERA, because if passed, the wording would have opened the door for homosexual marriage.

Women in power, or sometimes just activist women when they are fully vested in being Woman-what ever the historical context- can be the arbitrators of social change.

One great book on this is "Unbound Feet" By Judy Yung

Because of racist immigration laws, Chinese government upheaval and corruption, nearly all first generation Chinese women immigrants in the San Fransisco area (where the research for the book was done) were prostitutes. The subsequent liberation from the initial damage over generations had a lot of women hero's. I had to give kudo's to the white Protestant woman who-- absolutely outraged-- fought for these women, getting them out of horrible situations sometimes getting themselves in danger.(of course they attempted, and in most cases succeeded to convert them to Christianity, but that was what you did at the time)A fascinating book. Think I'll read it again.

3. It's' like this...
Where "The leaders of a new, Christian movement" are concerned with keeping the power structure as well as the congregations - MALE and HOSTILE!

(Maybe that's not so new  )

The Feminization of the Church
Why Its Music, Messages and Ministries Are Driving Men Away

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=214&topic_id=66099

Many churches emphasize Jesus’ softer teachings, like his love and his desire to save, and they ignore the doctrines of sin and hell, according to Podles. But men dislike liberal Christianity — “a mild religion of progress and enlightenment” as opposed to a battle between good and evil, Podles said....

Johnstone believes the feminist movement in mainline churches has contributed to the decline in male membership.

(Currently, Biola’s seminary, Talbot School of Theology, is about 76 percent men.)

The article also mentions that the men in the "new, Christian movement" think that men want a more intellectual religion than women do. They probably think that it's intellectual for men to be assholes.
