Information on my new resume/career communications business
After years of informally writing resumes and cover letters for friends, family members, acquaintances, and those they referred to me, I've decided to take it one step further and start a part-time business. I work during the day and plan on working at this business in the late afternoons, evenings and weekends.

I will prepare resumes that will be customized both to the particular field and job being applied for, as well as cover letters tailored specifically to the applied-for job. I have also developed a type of resume that will help job-seekers overcome any possible barriers employers might create based on their employment background screening procedures and policies, including credit history, driving record, gaps in employment history or long-term unemployment due to illness, injury, or staying home with children, among other factors.

While the focus will be primarily on the preparation of customized resumes and cover letters, I will also offer other services. These services include the following:

Resume Submission Management: I will submit resumes and cover letters and keep track of such submissions.

Job Research: I will, upon request, research the available jobs in a particular field in a desired area, utilizing all forms of media including newspapers, online resources, and company websites, and advise you of each opening that fits your criteria and qualifications. You can then either have me send a customized resume and cover letter to the particular openings you want to apply for.

Employment Screening Advice: I previously worked for a national employment screening company for four years and am thoroughly familiar with both their operations and the types of things employers are concerned with. I will offer advice on handling the pre-employment background screening, including credit, criminal, and driving history, and what your rights are concerning such checks.

I will be developing informational brochures in this area, including one detailing your employment rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. And as a paralegal, I am thoroughly familiar with employment law in general and the laws in this area in particular.

Career Research: Research current trends, events, and qualification requirements in a particular employment field, including areas of saturation and need. Research possible future trends and patterns of need and qualifications as well.

Employer research: Research a particular employer on request, both for purposes of needing information for an interview and for making a decision as to whether or not to accept a position offered by that employer. In the near future, I plan on developing a website that will facilitate such requests, and post information on companies and employers, among other things.

I am in the process of developing a website now, and it may be awhile before it's fully operational. In the meantime, you may either PM me or contact me via email at futurewisecareers@yahoo.com. And spread the word!
