Financial Analysts, Associates, Principals, Investment Bankers, etc...

Im currently a student at the University of Baltimore School of Business concentrating in Finance. I will be graduating in the spring of 2007 and I am looking to start the job hunting/researching process.

If you work in any of the following positions, I would appreciate any info, suggestions, or tips you have to offer on getting my foot in the door.

I currently hold an internship at MedStar Health/Harbor Hospital in the Finance Department, but Im looking to hookup with a more market based firm. Ive reasearched and would like to target the following firms, but Ive found that it is very hard to break through.

Ferris, Baker Watts, Incorporated
Morgan Stanley
T. Rowe Price
Legg Mason
M & T
Maryland Capital Management
Constellation Energy

Ive applied for summer analyst/internship positions at all of the following companies, but have not heard back from any of them.

I have a decent GPA (3.0 - Im doing very well this semester, so this should rise), solid work experience, and relevant skills; Im good with people and present myself very well, but I still have not landed a single interview. Im confident that if I do land an interview, I will get the job/internship.

Maybe my resume and cover letters are not up to par with the rest of the candidates?

Anyway, suggestions, advice, or tips are greatly appreciated. If any of you are interested in reviewing my resume or cover letter for tips, Id greatly appeciate that too. Thanks!

by "know" I mean "done transactions with them involved" and I would say, focus on Legg-Mason. Read up on them, and try to identify a couple of big hitters in your region that you might be able to contact. I don't recommend stalking, but lots of these people have designated watering holes, and you can strike up acquaintences this way. You need to get out of the "send resume/cover letter" box because truth is, 90% of the hiring they do is via networking, although a couple of headhunters who have successfuly placed candidates there might be an entree as well.

What are your interests? What are your fortes? How can you distinguish yourself from the rest of these folks? How much better do you know their business and subject matter than everyone else?

That's what you need to do, at least in my opinion.
