Interview Question.

My daughter had a job interview yesterday for the position of executive assistant for sales and marketing at a local company. The position require writing ability for press releases and proposals and some design experience for things like press kits, e-mail blasts, etc. And also doing the legwork for an already-determined marketing plan. At the start of the interview, the interviewer asked: what ideas do you have to take us to the next step?

My daughter feels as though this question wasn't exactly fair. If she answered in great detail, she just gave them a lot of great ideas for nothing? If she doesn't answer in detail it seems as though she doesn't know what she's talking about. If they interview several people and each one gives them one good idea, they have just gotten a lot of professional advice for free. She is wondering how can she answer this kind of question so that her abilities are apparent without giving away her ideas? Or is this kind of question just unprofessional on the part of the interviewer?

what I would do with their business and I also got the same feeling - they would just take what I said and go with it without me - I chose not to do it and look elsewhere. It just seemed like someone trying to get something for nothing.
