Clinton Surprises Troops Back From Iraq
By Associated Press
3 hours ago

BANGOR, Maine - Former President Bill Clinton surprised U.S. troops arriving from Iraq when a refueling stop for his private plane at the Bangor International Airport coincided with the arrival of two flights carrying soldiers.<snip>

<snip>
Clinton's departure was delayed by a problem with his aircraft, allowing him to join a line of local troop greeters who meet each plane carrying soldiers returning from overseas or leaving for duty.

"Thank you for your service," Clinton said as he shook hands and hugged many of the soldiers. He autographed hats, cards and other items.

<snip>
Clinton had some fun when Army Spc. Joshua Ruschenberg used a cell phone provided by troop greeters to call his sister-in-law, Shancy Garrison, in North Carolina. He handed over the phone to the former commander in chief.

"Hi, Shancy, it's Bill Clinton," the former president said into the phone.

Could you imagine the idiot-in-chief EVER doing this? HELL NO.

1. So Clinton was running drugs through customs and smoking pot
in the cockpit and used the God fearing US troops as a shield while another plane was whisked in and he escaped prison once again.

Did I read that right?

2. SIGH
Damn, every time I read something like this that Big Dog does, that a President who is a normal, decent human being would do, it always makes me cry because I miss the 'sane' days.

Thanks for posting. :thumbsup:

10. It wouldn't matter to Clinton if he did or not
With Bush he'd have to have the person checked out and screened. Clinton did it right than and there and didn't care.

12. Completely agree. Further, Bush would've stayed on the plane.
There's no way "tough guy" Bush would have joined the crowd. In fact, the crowd would have been cleared and the troops' planes diverted to another location because the Shrub was in town.

8. Clinton : a real president
Clinton honestly cares about our troops and their families.
Bush only uses our troops for a backdrop and to make him and his friends rich.

Clinton is a class act and always has been.

14. GWB mingling with the "common people"?????-GASP!
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 09:39 PM by MissWaverly
I thought that was the reason he disliked the Bugman, he was too blue collar which made
him beneath the pretzel. I just had an idea, since we haven't had a valid election in
2000 or 2004 due to technical difficulties, maybe Clinton is still the president.

15. Could they have picked a less flattering picture to use?
They usually don't do that. His pics are usually very flattering.

Great story, all the same.

16. You know, I wonder if a photo of Clinton mingling with troops, who are
probably grinning from ear to ear (as opposed to the grim faced troops forced to listen to gwb's BS) is considered a "controversial" picture.

The press in this country is so cowed, I wouldn't put anything past them, anymore. MKJ

17. Especially with Scottie today at the press conference
when he basically said that anyone that speaks out against anything we do will be exposed. It was amazing. He called out Dean and some "unnamed" members of Congress.

If you haven't seen it, you should. It was very scary. NOT.
