1. You forgot the most important of all
"Can't Make it Here" by James Mc Murtry on the album "Childish Things."

I've seen that lyric posted here more than any other.

3. Bright Eyes
"When The President Talks To God"

When the president talks to God
Are the conversations brief or long?
Does he ask to rape our women’s' rights
And send poor farm kids off to die?
Does God suggest an oil hike
When the president talks to God?

When the president talks to God
Are the consonants all hard or soft?
Is he resolute all down the line?
Is every issue black or white?
Does what God say ever change his mind
When the president talks to God?

When the president talks to God
Does he fake that drawl or merely nod?
Agree which convicts should be killed?
Where prisons should be built and filled?
Which voter fraud must be concealed
When the president talks to God?

When the president talks to God
I wonder which one plays the better cop
We should find some jobs. the ghetto's broke
No, they're lazy, George, I say we don't
Just give 'em more liquor stores and dirty coke
That's what God recommends

When the president talks to God
Do they drink near beer and go play golf
While they pick which countries to invade
Which Muslim souls still can be saved?
I guess god just calls a spade a spade
When the president talks to God

When the president talks to God
Does he ever think that maybe he's not?
That that voice is just inside his head
When he kneels next to the presidential bed
Does he ever smell his own bullshit
When the president talks to God?

I doubt it

I doubt it

29. Here's one posted last night by another DU'er. IMO it's Eggcellent
thanks to
Faux pas

Koo Koo Kachoo

I am me and Rummy's he, Iraq is free and we are all together
See the world run when Dick shoots his gun, see how I lie
I'm Lying...

Sitting on my own brain, waiting for the end of days
Corporation profits, Bloody oil money
I'm above the law and I'll decide what's right or wrong

I am the egg head, I'm the Commander, I'm the Decider
Koo-Koo-Kachoo

Baghdad city policeman sitting pretty little targets in a row
See how they die when the shrapnel flies see mothers cry
I'm Lying...I'm Ly-ing...I'm Lying...I'm Ly-ing

Yellow cake plutonium, imaginary WMD's
Declassifying facts, exposing secret agents
Tax cuts for the wealthy leaving all the poor behind

CHORUS

Sitting in the White house garden talking to the Lord
My thoughts would be busy busy hatching If I only had a brain

CHORUS

No matter what you think of her musically, I was moved by the experience.

Plus, I wanted to post the War Child compilation for people who missed it.

31. WTFMFWTFAYT?
http://bigego.com/WTFMFWTFAYT.mp3

I said I was tired of swatting at flies
and then two flies knocked down the twin towers and a lot of people died
So I decided to make it the cornerstone of my campaign
bring my friends to new york and have them say 911 again and again and again

WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT
WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT?

I had other priorities than going to 'Nam
like hanging out doing blow going AWOL and hitting the bong
you know back then I just didn't feel like going to war
that's what suckers like (ha ha) John Kerry are for

WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT
WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT?

Oh higher father - where are you?
Please tell me - is this what Jesus do?

I don't think we should be changing horses in midstream
even if the horse is on fire and stream is made of gasoline
I feel the country's much safer with him
now that we're finally alone in the world - we can win

WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT
WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT
WTFMFWTFAYT WTFMFWTFAYT

42. Tony Blair's love song to * -- "I'm with Stupid"
Standard Pet Shop Boys fare. You can hear the song -- or not -- at their fansite:
http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/

If you chose to listen, take my advice and skip the video. It probably won't make it on anyone's top 10 -- even me, and I've been a PSB fan for twenty years -- but the lyrics are amusing. Posted here for your amusement.

======================================

Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid
Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid

See you on the TV. Call you every day
Fly across the ocean just to let you get your way
No one understands me, where I'm coming from
Why would I be with someone who's obviously so dumb?

Love comes. Love grows.
every time you rise to meet me
take my hand to greet me
Love comes. Love grows.
and power can give a man much more than anybody knows

Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid
Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid

Before we ever met I thought like everybody did
you were just a moron a billion-dollar kid
You flew up all the way like a hawk chasing a dove
I never thought that I would be a sacrifice in love

It comes. It grows.
and now we're tied together everybody knows

Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid. Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid
Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid. Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid

Is Stupid really this stupid
or a different kind of smart?
Do we really have a relationship
so special in your heart?

Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid. Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid

I have to ask myself like any lover might:
Have you made a fool of me? Are you not Mr Right?

You grin. I pose.
It's not about sincerity
Everybody knows

Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid. Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid
Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid. Oh-oh, I'm with Stupid

Is Stupid really this stupid
or a different kind of smart?
That's how you stole my heart
I'm with Stupid

48. Jackson Browne: "Lives in the Balance"
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 08:11 AM by Reader Rabbit
Looking for a link to lyrics and/or mp3.

Edit: Got 'em!

Lives in the Balance - Jackson Browne

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

On the radio talk shows and the T.V.
You hear one thing again and again
How the U.S.A. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend

But who are the ones that we call our friends
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can't take anymore
So they pick up a gun, or a brick, or a stone

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flame
Of the wars that are fought in places
We can't even say the name

They sell us the President the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us everything from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars

I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons

MKJ

Edited to add chorus from Mass Destruction:

Whether long range weapon or suicide bomber
Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you're Soaraway Sun or BBC 1
Misinformation is a weapon of mass destruct
You coulda Caucasian or a poor Asian
Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalization
Fear is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether Halliburton, Enron or anyone
Greed is a weapon of mass destruction
We need to find courage, overcome

Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction (x3)

Chorus of Megalomaniac:

Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no fucking Elvis
WASH YOUR HANDS CLEAN OF YOURSELF, Baby yeah,
Step down
Step down

Both songs came out in late 2003. They gave me my first glimmer of hope that artists were calling our gwb. MKJ

62. Yeah, we talked about that upthread, KitchenWitch...
I think I'll do an expanded version of this later and include a lot of stuff that I thought about later and that people mentioned - like the new Ministry song and the new Merle Haggard song. I might do this monthly. I think weekly would be too much. Maybe bi-weekly? There is a lot of stuff we could add. I totally forgot the Cowboy Junkies - the whole new album is an anti-war theme with covers and an original called "December Skies" that is chilling.
