Damned hotels, Fox orgy--no Comedy Channel
Edited on Tue Apr-25-06 10:08 PM by linazelle
This pisses me off. Marriott has Fox television AND Fox News along with Bowtie boy and the rest of the right wing scum. The leading stories? Free heroin killing people in Chicago and the Duke rape case. :eyes:

I just checked in. I'm of a mind to move tomorrow.

6. I just stayed at another hotel with Comedy Channel. Actually it
was the Residence Inn Marriott. It must be up to the local management what channels they select. I will let them know of my displeasure with their choice here.

7. Makes sense that Residence Inn would carry CC.
I mainly (almost exclusively) stay at Starwood properties (W and Westin). I am into great service.

8. It's not always possible to find a specific hotel so you make
the best possible choices in those instances. The Marriott, I thought, was the best choice from the current group of hotels in the area. Now I'm not so sure.

12. The big chain hotels usually only have like 10 channels
Edited on Wed Apr-26-06 05:38 AM by pstokely
Places like Days Inn and Best Western sometimes have more channels, non-chain hotels seem to have the most channels.

13. The Raphael in Kansas City MO Has Comedy Central (And Cartoon!)
Edited on Wed Apr-26-06 05:11 AM by REP
Beautiful, non-corporate-owned hotel right on the Plaza - I recommend it highly.

On edit - so does Le Meridien. Not quite as nice as the Raphael, but slightly better room service (which you $$ pay for!).

5. You know, if there is a comment card, you might let them have it. . .
and in rather polite terms inform them that you wish television service to provide real news and entertainment, not "conservative" or Republican Party political hacks. Let them know that you aren't interested in the hotel's political affiliations, but do expect them to respect that most people have no interest in multiple Faux news commentaries.

I actually pulled this on Verizon.net's homepage. They kept providing daily...I mean DAILY video feeds of bowtie boy, Tweety, the Scarlet Harlot. . .and I protested every week for a couple of months, informing them that no one should pay for a DSL subscription to be subjugated to one-sided political messages in response. I told them the programs had their own web sites and that people who enjoyed propaganda could visit those themselves, but that the company's insistence that only "conservative" shills be placed on the homepage for ALL customers indicated the company was engaging in selling services to everyone in order to preach one irresponsible political viewpoint.
They changed the videos a few weeks ago - and replaced the clips with NEWS video. :-).

11. Yeah I'm in a hotel too
Got all the right-wing news (CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, CNNHN) I could ever want, two sports channels, Fox, UPN, WB, NBC, ABC, CBS, HBO... HGTV, Univision, Discovery... But no Comedy Central here either. Luckily my DVR is at home recording it. I could stream it from home if I had sufficient upload bandwidth at home and faster WiFi here at the hotel, but neither is up to the job at the moment. Maybe in five or six years it will be a reality. :)

16. The last hotel I stayed in had Comedy Central
It was some little Hotel in D.C.. As soon as I got to my room I turned on the TV to make sure, it had C-SPAN, C-SPAN 2 & Comedy Central, since those are the only channels I really watch.

18. I refuse to stay in a Marriot hotel
They underwrote *'s 2004 "inaugural" with huge amounts of money, and are a very big supporter of the Republican Party.

Fox is the default station that the majority of their telelvision stations go to when they are turned on - I recall the last time I stayed at a Marriot (in Atlanta) one of the front desk people confirmed it (at least for that hotel).

I sent back a comment card, along with my cut-up Platinum Level preferred card, and have not stayed at a Marriot property since.
