2. Oh, man. I remember when that happened. Powerful stuff.
Bully for the Nation.

Man, that was tough reading.

3. Yes it was
I tried several times to post it, but I just just could not bring myself to do it.

It took a long long time.

4. I'm glad you posted it.
Way back when I was in combat, the thought of dying did not upset me nearly as much as the thought of my Mother hearing about it.

That letter really affected me.

I'm keeping it.

5. I sat here and tried
to put myself in that position, to have to hear that, to have to look at one of my sons in uniform and in a casket after fighting this mad man's folly. I can't get there, I just can't.

We just have to stop this. I can't even think straight after reading that.

I want to say thanks my friend but that is really not the right thing to say. Whatever, you know me well enough to know what I mean. Damn.

7. That is exactly what kills me.
We have no other choice and we are fighting against the entire force of our current government. Sometimes it is just frustrating enough to want to hide your head but we just can't. This is the wonderfulness of DU and the collection of information and the solid relationships built here. Support and encouragement and on we go.

8. I used to read about parents who lost children to war
and I'd be upset in a way that maybe became too familiar. It let me sleep at night.

Now that I'm the dad of a little boy, this kind of shit drives me crazy. Carlos Arredondo or the Iraqi father whose picture was taken last week while he sat crying next to the body of his child, it's all the same. I used to think that I hated the fools who started wars. I had no idea.

Thank you for posting this.
