I've already been boycotting Exxon since the Valdez spill
What can I do now, pull up to the pumps and piss on them? I currently go out of my way to purchase only from Citgo, even though I know virtually all of the gas comes from the same distributor...at least it sends a message. But what else can we do, really? Not much I fear, other than using NO gasoline. I don't see that as being too workable.

1. Oh, you mean that little incident that EXXON claims they
can't afford to pay for?

2. I also stopped buying Exxon gas after the Valdez fiasco.
I had a really good relationship with the station owner, too. It was one of the few full service stations left in the area. I told him I wouldn't be back, because I just couldn't support Exxon with my purchases. He said he understood, and that I wasn't the only customer who had told him that.

And they still haven't paid damages from that incident, in spite of their record OBSCENE profits. Pitiful that our government and justice system would let them drag this out for so long.

I don't know what else we can do, other than stop and ask people at their stations to not fill up with them in the future...

4. And don't forget, BushCo claims they can't afford new refineries.
Despite the fact that a modest new refinery is estimated to cost about a billion dollars. BushCo thinks you and I should pay for it, not Exxon or the other oilco's, who CLEARLY could build a couple new refineries with the change pulled out of their executive lounge cushions. It is nothing more than outright horrendous GREED on a mammoth, mammoth scale.

6. That attitude makes me sick. Most businesses have to make enough
profit to expand on their own, without subsidies from the public. Yet oil companies, telecommunications companies, etc., can all charge customers "fees" for expansion.

Want to keep your phone number if you change providers? OK, great. But you'll have to pay a fee for each phone number you have, so that the companies can put in place technology to make that happen should you ever want to do so. And you'll pay this fee for years before you can actually keep your number, because it takes a while to implement the technology.

No kiss after the act, just outright rape. I suspect they aren't wearing condoms, either...

3. A week after that spill, my sis, nearly on fumes, pulled in for gas
As the tank was filling and she was writing out the check, she realized she didn't even know which station she was at. She asked the attendant who was washing her windshield (yep, they used to employ people to help you at gas stations) what the name of the station was.

"####### Exxon, ma'am"

The look on her face was of utter horror. She was really shaken that in her panic not to run outta gas in heavy traffic, she had pulled into THAT station. Sensing her discomfort, and eager to please a customer for a change, the attendant asked, "Anything else?"

From the darkness in the backseat came a firm but quietly spoken answer from my husband:
"Yeah, clean the damn beaches"
