U.S religious leaders seek God's help to reduce the spiralling cost of gas
Religious leaders were to meet in Washington today to pray publicly for gasoline prices to ease, organizers with the group Pray Live said.

"It is our hope that seeing and hearing some of the nation's most powerful preachers gathered around a gas station and the United States capital as a backdrop, will remind everyone who is really in charge of our world -- God," said Wenda Royster, founder of Pray Live, a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week live prayer line, e-worship centre, and Internet radio station.

Several leaders of Protestant organizations from Washington plan to participate in the event.

The rise in prices at gasoline stations has raised concerns in the United States, leading President George W. Bush to demand a federal inquiry to ensure Americans are not being swindled at the pump. AFP

5. Border Patrol trucks aren't very fuel efficient...
If them damn wetbacks would stop crossin' the Rio Grande, our boys in the Border Patrol and the fine Patriotic Minutemen wouldn't have to be using up gas driving all over the place to catch 'em.

7. Dear Lord, please lower gas prices so we can continue to trash the
planet you gave us. Thank you.

I make a lowsy $15,000/year and I have a long commute to work. So, gas prices are obviously killing me. But I'm not going to complain, because I know it's good in the long run. We MUST use less gas, or the earth will melt at both ends and destroy our civilization.

12. Science isn't backing up prayer working
this was widely reported a couple of weeks ago in a study involving prayer and patients having surgery.
Those patients prayed for actually did worse than those not prayed for.
So. These people might be able to find a better use of their time by helping people. Reading to children who were born with AIDs. Visiting the elderly. Distributing books and food to children living in poverty.
And not spending so much time drawing attention to themselves.
