BREAKING: House Likely To Come Back Before SOTU For Leadership Elections
After much discussion on the members-only conference call on Monday and after some FL members went public (see Wake-Up Call), GOP leaders are apparently now planning on calling the Conference back before the SOTU to decide on who will become the new House Maj Leader.

The House Conference has sent an email to members and staff offering potential dates for such an early return to D.C.

Following up on the member's conference call on Monday night, the Conference is canvassing all members to check availability to be in Washington on the dates below to conduct an election for Majority Leader.

Please check one of the boxes below and hit reply or respond to GOPConference@mail.house.gov no later than noon Thursday, January 12th.

__ Thursday, January 26th

__ Friday, January 27th

__Both the 26th and the 27th

__Can not be in Washington on either day

2. Waiting this long might mean they are going to let the Patriot Act
expire, or try to hurry it through without change as the deadline nears.

3. Funny, I was wondering about that this morning...
Remember when Denny Hastert DeLayed the opening session until the end of January...

just in case Tommy got his charges dismissed?

Well Tommy must've had his ear to the wall, so Saturday he sez I'm down for good.

So I'm thinking, OK, does that mean the House can start business WHEN THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO?

Then I think, nah, it'll be too much trouble, Congress has made extended-vacation plans, never happen.

But...

Whaddya know, when Denny thinks it's important to look good on TV...especially in an election year...

4. And Follow That Up With Impeachment Proceedings?
What the hell, they will be in town anyway. Might as well tidy up some other messes too and Impeach Bush while they are at it.
