and farms hiring illegals. I use the supply and demand argument: if business didn't demand a docile workforce that was willing to work in substandard conditions for substandard pay, we wouldn't have the constant supply of illegals to fill those jobs. American businesses do not want to comply with American minimum wage and labor laws. bush is allowing them to run their own little banana repubics.
I also pointed out the agreement between bush and Fox back when bush wanted Mexico to join the coalition of the willing.
I also point out that when I was a mail carrier I delivered to a lot of Mexican workers. Not one was getting government assistance. They received no food stamps, no welfare, nothing. The only health care I saw was a state nurse came around checking for communicable diseases like Tuberculosis.
Yes, Americans can do those low paying slave labor jobs, but they will have to do like the migrants by living in large multi family groups. Of course many cities have laws against people living together if they are not related. (they are the anti commune laws from the 60's and 70's) The town I worked as a mail carrier had that law, but turned a blind eye to the migrant workers. I know many were illegals because the farmers admitted to me that they hired illegals. the migrants worked in teams. The leader provided living space, rides, and meals. He also kept them in line. Most of the leaders I knew were good guys. The leader was usually married. His wife and maybe one other woman took care of the house. The houses were always spotless. The kids were real jewels. American kids never came up and hugged me, the Mexican and central American kids did.
