Where's the Kennedy should confess and resign thread?

To be serious, I love these folks, the Kennedys. Ted grew into a national treasure. The others have large shoes to fill . . . I wish them the best.

1. Heh.
Really, I don't see why we can't give him the benefit of the doubt for now. I know it's hard to defend a Dem on nothing more than... loyalty. Let's give it a shot for once. Try something new.

2. they're coming out of the woodwork....
actually, it's pretty creepy how people waste such energy and hot air opining their insignificant non-details. I'm going to sit this silly game out,..and venture on.

10. Ted Kennedy is the most effective Senator in the history of the body
As the chairman of the Education and Labor Committee, and as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, Sen. Kennedy has been the initiator, author, or ranking supporter of most modern safety protections and equitable wage provisions that we benefit from in the workplace; has been a major force in increasing the minimum wage; in the enactment of the Family and Medical Leave Act; in securing enhanced job training for displaced workers; and in ensuring that health care coverage is portable protection whic follows workers from job to job.

Overall, Sen. Kennedy has been a tireless advocate for our liberal agenda and a stalwart bulwark against the republican assault on our democracy.

11. my posts
so I dont like Ted kennedy? does that make me persona non grata at DU? Im a registered Democrat but am skeptical of both political parties and believe they both only want to accumulate and preserve power. Im no lap dog for the Democrats that's for sure- like many others here seem to be. If that's what it takes to be a member of DU then i guess im at the wrong place.

13. Then you guessed right
Truth be told, I would never come into anyone's place and immediately start insulting them. I would perhaps introduce myself and at least "try" to get along for a while. You will find that there are thousands of us who are not very happy with the Democratic Party and you will also find that when people come out the gate throwing flamebait around they are usually not welcomed around here.

BTW, welcome to DU rsr26 :hi:

17. You might have missed the DEMOCRATIC in Democratic Underground.
If you have issues with Ted Kennedy, state them.

No one has to like anyone.

But oblique smears are worthless.

21. I just frickin gave several specifics about the senator that I admire
and support. Kennedy's record as a legislator speaks for itself. Personally, I've never met him. I appreciate all he's done for our country though . . .

You want to just throw poop? Not a very worthwhile enterprise, not here.

14. How old are you? Have you been alive longer than Ted's been....
....in Congress (44 years)? He's been involved in more legislation to protect the common person than any other Democrat in Congress, past or present.

Read something about Ted Kennedy, other than the usual hit-pieces, and you might learn something about the man.

16. not here to insult...
im not here to insult anyone. i enjoy good discussion and debate. Im probably to the right of most people here- but so is Bill Clinton. I just think Ted Kennedy's big government orthodoxy is obsolete- im a Jeffersonian small govt, states rights democrat.
