He could be using a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. These medications are used to relieve anxiety for various psychological problems and used to calm the nerves of former addicts. These medications include Ativan, Valium, and Versed which have also become abused....

2. Colin Powell said everybody uses Ambien
"So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?" Al-Rashed asked.

"Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that," Powell said. "They're a wonderful medication — not medication. How would you call it? They're called Ambien, which is very good. You don't use Ambien? Everybody here uses Ambien."

20. What would you have to want to take it?
I really try not to thing what people are taking when I am out in my car. I am sure I do knot know why people take all these drugs when all one really needs to do is read and every wild thing you can think of gets into your head.

4. Colin Powell sure did and may still do....
"Powell's Chemical Equation

Powell described his killer schedule in an interview Thursday with Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed, a reporter for a London-based Saudi newspaper.

"So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?" Al-Rashed asked.

"Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that," Powell said. "They're a wonderful medication -- not medication. How would you call it? They're called Ambien, which is very good. You don't use Ambien? Everybody here uses Ambien."

Really? Some folks across the river may conclude that explains a lot."

Note he says "Everybody here uses Ambien." Hmmm, certainly suggests Ambien is very common among the senior bush admin which doesn't exclude bush, imo.

7. Ambien can cause sleep driving.
I'm serious. It's one of the rarer side effects they've recently discoverd. Sleep driving and sleep eating can be caused by Ambien.

13. I do.
I haven't had any problem using it occasionally for like six years. I've found it generally safe if used properly. People get into problems when they mix it with alcohol it seems though.
