I'm sick of hearing "What's your plan?"
I have heard it. You have heard it. It's a top five RNC talking point.

"You hate George Bush, but you aren't FOR anything. You're too negative."

Fine. I sat down for a few minutes and thought about it. You want to know what I'm for?

I am for:

Equal rights for all Americans.
Health care for all Americans.
An end to corporate welfare.
An end to farm subsidies to corporate agriculture.
A living wage for all working Americans.
A foreign policy based on respect for all nations.
A withdrawal of American troops from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, the South Pacific, South America and Central America.
An end to American support for undemocratic nations.
An end to American support for Israel until Palestine is free of Israeli occupation.
Stronger protection for unions, including protection of unions from organized crime.
Stronger protection for consumers.
Stronger environmental regulations.
An end to the prohibition of recreational drugs.
Repeal of the Patriot Act.
A defense department that defends our borders and stays out of other nations.
Cuts in the number of officers in the US military.
Cuts in the pay of officers in the US military.
Including military retirement in the Pentagon budget.
An end to the revolving door between the military and defense industry.
End defense contractor lobbying of Congress.
Finance all Congressional and Presidential election campaigns solely with public funds.
Eliminate PACs
Eliminate the Electoral College.
Provide ALL candidates for Federal office the same amount of media.
Eliminate the “vote minimum” rules for political parties.
Strengthening the separation between Church and State.
A national energy policy that ensures a change from fossil fuels to renewable, clean energy.
A change in the rules governing broadcast media to ensure truth and accuracy in broadcast news and the breakup of media monopolies.
A return to the public service regulations for broadcasters.
Annual lease payments from broadcasters to the public treasury.
A rollback of the copyright laws to last 50 years or 25 years beyond the death of copyright originator (whichever is less.)
Repeal of the DMCA.
A federal floor for education spending per pupil.
A federal ban on private industry operating prisons.
Sign and abide by The Kyoto Treaty.
Vigorous support for the UN.
Taxes based on wealth, not income.
Reinstatement of the inheritance tax.

I'm sure I could go on and on, but let's start with these, OK?

1. The democrats have clearly outlined their plans
But they don't enjoy the power of the bully pulpit.

3. I agree, their plans are clear on their websites.
But I'm only speaking for myself. I'm a leftie, not a Democrat.

Not that there is anything wrong with being a Democrat, I'm just to the left of the Democrats.

5. That, and simply...
Mr. Republican, I have one plan (for each of yours):
-- "To do the exact opposite of each of your plans!"

Fine list, by the way--thanks!

7. I think you hit on something there
There's just so much that *needs* to be done, you end up with a laundry list of goals instead of The Big Three, which is what America is looking for.

8. Being for something isn't a plan
I'm for you having a plan.

See?

Didn't help.

Having a plan is a good thing.

FDR and 100 Days, etc.

10. Point taken.
Consider my heading so modified.

Apparently I don't have a plan. I only have beliefs.

I plan to vote according to my beliefs.

The only really appropriate response to this accusation is to direct them to the policies that were in place and proposed during the years 93-00..you know..the years when we ran a surplus, had more jobs than we could fill.. the years when our president was respected around the world, even while being poked with the pitchforks of the likes of Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich, Henry Hyde, Rush Limbaugh, and their pals.

The policies were apparently valid enough to run on auto-pilot even though the president was certainly "distracted". We were fortunate to have a person in charge whose brainpower was sufficient to multitask. The one we have now obviously has difficulty even pedaling and steering a bike at the same time, so is it any wonder we are in such dire straits?

The "Democrat" Plan is what it has always been. The plan is little more than ordinary common decency to the common person, whether he/she is American, Mexican, Iraqi or whatever.

It's getting rather tedious to listen to the bloviators who breezed through the surplus, maxxed out all the "cards", ruined the country for decades ahead , trashed the international goodwill we used to have, and so much more...to claim no responsibility for the actions that are ONLY theirs, and then demand a "fix" from the legislators whose hands they have tied for years.

The "Democrat" Plan is the same as it's always been.. We don't even NEED a "new" one.

In the final analysis , the plan is always to clean up the messes of a republican administration, set the country back on the tracks, repair the damage, put people to work in decent-paying jobs, regain the international goodwill and try to heal the rifts.

Different democrats through the decades, but the plan is always the same
