North was convicted of obstruction and taking a bribe. If you do a Google image search, you will find some appropriate mug shots:

It seems the career path for the right wingnut is to become a government official, betray his oath, commit criminal acts, get convicted, and then become a talk show host and hero to the ditto heads. Colson. North. Liddy. Rove is only about halfway along the path. Wait a bit.

3. PS: Ironically, both Ollie and Rush were happy to have the ACLU's help.

Those who hate this nation for its civil liberties are nonetheless happy to avail themselves of those protections, when their criminal acts come to light.

4. Actually,

the government fucked it up.

He had been promised and granted immunity, and the government tried to renege. In this case, Mr. North was really victimized by the system, and only his good lawyer got him the goods he had been promised.

Imagine that.

By the way, never trust Wikpedia for research. It's a very poor source on things legal, especially.

Try reading the old newspaper coverage of North's adventures in legal land, and you might even find yourself wanting to know more.
