My letter to my congress jerks, all repukes, re: gas
Edited on Sun May-07-06 07:12 PM by Maestro
I am very concerned that the republican controlled government is not doing nearly enough to address the escalating price of crude oil and the subsequent jump in the retail price of gasoline in the U.S. When all of the petroleum companies such as Exxon-Mobil, Valero and Shell report record profits I know that there is a disconnect somewhere. Why is it that they have record profits? If they are paying more for their oil wholesale, why do we still see record profits from the retail end? Is it that they are taking advantage of the public and increasing their profit margins as well? Are they limiting the refining capacity in the U.S. to artificially inflate the price of gasoline and other petroleum products? While this happens, we, the public, hear that the former Exxon-Mobil CEO is awarded a $400,000,000 retirement package. That is disgustingly ostentatious as well as an affront to hard-working people.

I suppose it is too much to believe that the petroleum industry is taking its record profits and investing in alternative fuels research. No, that would never happen unless they are pressured to do so; therefore, I ask you to call for an investigation of the petroleum industry. There are too many questions that need to be answered. Ask them to explain this:
The American Petroleum Industry seems to blame you, the Congress. Blame game
Are you going to let that stand or will you continue to be passive because historically the oil companies have been your friends?

It seems you are going to let the Oil Industry get by with this because you people in Congress are inept to do anything while we, the people, get slammed. Slammed

When will the Congress actually address the issue of energy in a meaningful way? The current energy bill actually shows that the US will be slightly more dependent on foreign oil in the next twenty years. Is this what you want? More dependent

Is Congress willing to let stand the fact that the oil companies are posting profits 14 times greater than the combined profits of Google, Apple and Oracle? It's time for Bush and fellow republicans to get tough on oil. The Democrats are already willing! http://kutv.com/topstories/local_story_116132840.html

It needs to explain itself to the government and the people!

4. Thanks CC
I just can't take driving 70 miles round trip to work and back paying these prices when I do not think that I have too or at the very least thought the oil companies were investing more of the profits into alternative fuels.
