Sopranos tonight: Tony says "heck of a job, brownie" to a guy who f**d up
one of Tony's mob guys made a big mistake on a carnival (feast day run by the mob, they were cutting corners on safety and some people got hurt) and the first thing Tony says to him is "heck of a job, brownie". Then he went on to express his displeasure.

Is that a universal put down now?

1. They've been sneaking little slams in every week!
It was a good episode tonight. I'm addicted to the Sopranos like others are to soap operas.

4. Interesting, but this has more power than when
his daughter makes comments, like I've seen in earlier shows. His daughter is supposed to be a lighter character, not having it all together. Not that Tony does, but being the most powerful figure in the show, it carries a lot of weight when he says something or has a viewpoint.

I found it very interesting.

9. Do we get our satisfaction from a Sopranos episode? Or from
winning elections?

Universal "put-downs" don't mean SHIT in my book. Universal ELECTION SUCCESS does.

Tony Soprano's displeasure DOES NOT equate to ELECTION SUCCESS.

Can we keep our eyes on the prize please? And stop thinking/wishing the public voted like the upscale media (cable - satellite) wishes they would?

For goodness sake, this is the stupidest thing I've seen today, and I've been lucky enough to see some pretty stupid things.

13. Bull. Our goal of Election Reform is only helped by things like this...
More people watch the Sopranos than Real News.

Every quip like this in popular TV shows only helps our side and our ultimate goals. And it's funny.

14. Okay, I'll play. How many people can afford cable or satellite?
I'm thinking that the numbers would show that the MAJORITY of Americans watch nothing more than broadcast television because they either can't afford the alternatives, or they aren't offered where they live.

More people watch the Sopranos than Dan Rather?

None of it is funny. Funny is watching Bugs Bunny get slammed by the Wiley Coyote. Funny ISN'T a thousand missing people because of hurricane Katrina.

16. no, I said Real News
like DemocracyNow! for instance. The MSM has sold itself to the ratings devil.

And unfortunately, I live in the burbs now, everyone has cable, and the Sopranos is a major topic of discussion. :eyes: It's right up there with which neighbor is cheating on their spouse, and so-and-so's new car. I HATE the burbs!!

Other shows have done the same, like West Wing and Boston Legal, they have even bigger audiences. Every little bit that chips away at the hypocrisy residing in the White House is good with me.

21. "everyone has cable"
huh? Even IF "everyone has cable":

Tony fucking Soprano was stealing wine and someone got fucking MURDERED. Tony Soprano is a FUCKING MURDERER. Tony fucking SOPRANO cheats on his spouse.

I hate the notion that you, and "everyone" who has cable (which would be "everyone", to hear you tell it} thinks/hopes that a fictional character who has NO MORALS is capable of driving public opinion in our direction. What a fucking joke.

Everyone DOESN'T have cable. And some of us don't think that a fictional character such as someone on West Wing, Boston Legal or Commander in Chief speaks for the voting public as a whole.

Get a fucking grip.

23. Excuse me. I forgot a word...
"I live in the burbs now, WHERE everyone has cable"

"And some of us don't think that a fictional character such as someone on West Wing, Boston Legal or Commander in Chief speaks for the voting public as a whole.
"
I never said they did, I said every little comment on those shows helps.

We have extended cable, for the next month anyway, just because it was a good deal for 3 months, the kids and the roomate wanted it. Me? Gimme my CSPANS and I'm happy. I don't watch the Sopranos, or West Wing or any of those. But I do know what my neighbors talk about. Those are the sheeple of this country, and if it takes crappy TV to reach them, then whatever.

Who pooped in your Cheerios this morning? Jeez.

24. 82%
have cable or satellite. 47% watch HBO. Almost nobody watches the 6 o'clock news. It's quite sad, but people probably relate more to what their favorite tv character says about politics than what reporters say. And really, the writers of the Sopranos are easily as intelligent as Peggy Noonan or Mike Barnicle, so why not listen to what they have to say.

20. You're right!
Here I was thinking after Tony said that we would be guaranteed a win, not just in 2006 but also in 2008.

I really have to stop basing reality on my favorite tv shows.

I do it all the time. For instance, I was sure that Kerry would win a red state because of something Homer Simpson said, boy is there egg on my face!

We should all stop watching tv.

11. Christopher is missing Adrianna.
He gets his girlfriend pregnant and marries her. He falls off the wagon. Adrianna's mother tells Carmela that the FBI told her that Chris killed her.
