What a loser. How badly must she suck as an author to have her book basically tossed in the remainder bin EVEN BEFORE THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE? And at less than 5 bucks per copy, how is Annthrax ever going to clear enough to have that pesky Adam's apple thing taken care of?

And she needs that Adam's apple for her other job as a stand-in in Jay and Silent Bob movies.

5. Ann's book sales don't work that way
In fact nor do Hannity's or any right wing hack. They have rich friends (corporate buddies) who buy all their books up to get them on the NY Times Bestseller lists, and then they distribute them cheaply or free even to get rid of the excess. Regular booksales of these titles are meager at best.

On another note, Ann is sure trying to look like a woman here isn't he/she?

I saw "Godless" and for a second I thought this book was being discussed:

8. Right. Their numbers are always rigged
there are literally warehouses full of rightwing propaganda books which Scaife and his buddies buy up in bulk in the attempt to hoodwink Americans into thinking these hate-talkers have huge followings.
Their sales numbers are faked.
And their silly books are handed out as "re-gifted" bargain basement bling at rightwing gatherings.
It's actually quite pathetic.

6. Um, this is a subscription gimmick. You are subscribing to
Newsmax at $39.00 per year if you buy the book. (If you don't CANCEL your subscription after the four free issues.)

12. Just one question 11 Bravo
I'm confused. Does she suck bad or does she suck good? No doubt she sucks. And I don't believe she wants to do anything with the adam's apple. She's "polled" free republic and both men and women over there find it extremely sexy.

16. "For sure, copies of Ann's latest book will sell out."
:wtf:

When is the last time any book sold out? Ever? To the point where you just couldn't get your hands on a copy? Ever?!!??

They write revisionist history even when they're plugging books.

20. artificial scarcity
this way they don't spend time or money actually printing all the copies, they can simply resell the same ten.

19. Its the way it is with most of those right wing kooks.
A few weeks back, one of the blogs had a link to a conservative book web site, showing them selling their books for three for a dollar.
Write conservative books and without Scaife or some like him backing you, you would most likely end up on welfare.

22. Rightwing books are NOT "sellers"..Their best seller status
Edited on Mon May-08-06 01:39 PM by SoCalDem
is due to "bulk-buys" from foundations and think tanks.. they are handed out like party favors at a kid's birthday party, and most probably end up at the Dollar Store..

Some are sent to actual bookstores, but I think bookstores can send back books, so who knows how many get ordered, and then returned?

The best seller status is the justification for the airtime the "authors" are given..

It's all about the airtime, where their "books" are given equal weight with real authors' works..:puke:

23. An interesting story from the Soviet era...
Kruschev wrote a book which was distributed to Soviet emabassies worldwide, with instructions that embassy officials were expected to offer the book to anyone from their host country who showed interest. Embassies reported that the book was very popular, and so additional copies were sent out. In fact, almost no one was interested in the book, but embassy staffers recognized that it was in their best interest to report otherwise, and even competed with Soviet embassies in other countries to claim that the book was most popular in their posting (thus managing to suggest that their embassy was doing a better job of getting the Soviet party line across to "the masses"). The result was that embassies were receiving tens of thousands of copies of a book they couldn't get rid of -- they couldn't just throw them out in the trash, or dispose of them in any public way, or they'd disgrace themselves in the eyes of the Party. The Vienna embassy was storing theirs in the attic, but the weight of the books was threatening the structural integrity of the building(!). After the fall of Kruschev, the books stopped coming in, but they still had an enormous number of books to dispose of. After estimating that it would take years to dispose of them in the embassy furnace, they finally built an enormous crate and shipped it East as a diplomatic "pouch" (i.e. not to be opened for inspection, by international treaty) -- probably the largest ever shipped. US officials (maybe "Allied" or UN officials, can't remember that much detail) tried to delay the package at the border and get it declared non-diplomatic so they could inspect it, while spies swarmed about trying to find out anything they could about the package. Finally, they grudgingly gave way, and watched the package slip past the Iron Curtain, worrying that the Soviets had just gotten ahold of a new tank engine or the like. The actual contents of the package weren't revealed until years later, courtesy of a KGB spy who defected to the West.

Just one more bit of Soviet bufoonery that seems to mirrored by the Radical Right in this country ...

24. She is taken care of the rest of her life
it is a form of privatized welfare or SSI payments. Her work as an "elf" for Scaife means that she gets all her books bought up and a regular salary for the rest of her life. It is impossible for her to fail even in a Laura Ingraham type way-Ann is set.
