1. I am proud to hate mean people.
Am ashamed to hate people talking around me in a language I can't understand.

15. But what do you hate? What are you "proud" to hate?
What are you ashamed to hate, but willing to admit to on this thread.

19. Hate, I try not to hate. I am ashamed to admit I do hate sometimes.
Mostly Fascists, bullies, pedophiles, you know! REPUBLICANS! ;)

I'm learning to hate the willfully ignorant too. Oh look! More republicans!

3. I am proud to hate intellectual constructs that support the
tyranny of the strong over the weak (like social darwinism or Plato's "Republic").

I am ashamed to hate shiny, happy people that are wealthy, healthy, and intelligent. They make me jealous.

4. Shame and hate both eat at you in a way that hurts you, not them
Edited on Mon May-08-06 03:33 PM by FLDem5
so I avoid both, if I can.

I have recently had to deal with my teenage son's inner shame about something. It is a horrible thing to see - a person truly feeling shame.

I guess I feel pride when I see my kids figure something out for themselves - really become people, you know.

I also feel pride on the first day of practice, when, after all the thankless, pay-less hours are shown to have been worthwhile. When 300 kids have a quality program because of what several volunteers did with their spare time. I love that day - everyone is happy - no one needs to bitch about stuff (yet). It is fulfilling.

5. thanks for sharing, fldem5.
I too, try to avoid hate, shame, and pride. I am very interested in seeing what DU'ers are proud to hate, and what DU'ers are willing to admit to hating. Such ugliness.

I recently found out that my extended family are racist. They are "proud" of their hatred toward minorities. It is very sad.

8. Just wait until their teenage daughter starts dating
black dudes! I know that this will happen sooner or later (she loves hip hop culture, and thrives off pissing off her parents). It is just desserts. :~)

is the same, and damaging to one's mental state.

I'm ashamed of hating canned oysters.

16. I hate what this country has become.

There is very little resemblence in the America I grew up in during the 50's and 60's, and the America we live in today.

Young people will never experience the America I was proud to grow up in.

17. Hate is useless and indulgent.
I indulge myself by hating a few people who irritate me and are in my personal life.

I have no use for hating people I don't know. I oppose them, I'll fight against them, I'll relish in their defeats. But I woulldn't bother hating them.

I think DU is too obsessed with hate. It's just another version of Bush's obsession with others' "hearts" or "souls".

18. Hypocracy of politicians
I really hate that.
Proud to hate the current administration. I hate their hypocracy, their criminality, their lies, and their self-righteous attitudes.
I am ashamed to hate at all. It's a negative force that only drags you down. But sometimes you just can't help it.
