Extremely racist video of small child. This is terrible.
Edited on Mon May-08-06 06:34 PM by Kerrytravelers
Before you click and watch, let me warn you. This is a kid... maybe 4 years old, who uses all kinds of racial epitaphs and foul language. The older people around him think it's funny and egg him on.

Unbelievable, but it's true. And keep this in mind: it is very likely that this kid might attend a public school. I have seen a Kindergartner salute the American flag nazi-style. As a teacher, I shudder to imagine what this child will suffer when in society. Having been taught this hate, he may never be able to rid this from his mind and function positively in society.

I can imagine there are many young kids running around, spewing this kind of hate. It just breaks my heart. I think it's a good reminder of what we must deal with in this country, no matter how hard it is to watch.

7. If that were me, I would be eating about 10 bars of soap...
When I was about 10 I did call my bully who happened to be a black girl the 'n' word, next thing I know my mom was flying at me and had me on the ground slapping my face. I didn't know what the 'n' word meant then but my mom sure had put it in my mind that it is something that was horrible to say. Now that I know what it means I never use it against anybody.

Nevertheless, I really do feel sorry for this kid.

8. I think you be surprised that this is far more common than you think
The last 30 years have seen parenting skills almost disappear.

It's much easier to put psychosomatic drugs in a kids mouth than train them properly to function in society.

Flame away

14. No. I'm not flaming. I think some children/adults require medication.
And some are simply easier to drug than to teach. I've seen it all in my classroom. SOme of my ADD/ADHD kids actually function and concentrate much better when they take their meds. Others have parents who simply don't want to bother or can't deal with childhood exuberance.

Now, what is creating a increasing number of kids with ADD/ADHD is a whole other story. Personally, I think it's environmental poisons and the toxins we're adding to our bodies. But this is only my opinion, I have no links that substantially back me up nor have I done much research.

18. I certainly agree that a very small percent of child
need to be medicated to function

I have my own ADD/ADHD test. If children can play a video game for more than a hour non stop. They probably just need discipline and not drugs.

As for the increasing number of children on medication, I personally believe their parents are too busy to really take the time to be parents and prefer to have "johnny" on drugs so they are easily controlled.

Just my humble Opinion

24. ADD/ADHD kids have the BEST stamina for video games
They are able to hyperfocus like most people can't. So actually, the kids who can play video games the longest are more likely to BE ADD/ADHD.

38. Oh, hell yes! And when you call them to school to talk about their child,
they just blow it off like it's nothing and we're the crazy ones for being concerned. At that point, I basically say that if your kid continues and another parents files charges, I will be supporting the other parents in court. I also make it clear that I can only protect their child's physical well-being when they are in my presence. If they continue to push and push other people, one day, someone else may just snap. And when the truth comes out about what your child has been doing, public sympathy will side with the other children, not yours. Hate speech isn't looked kindly upon.

I'm not aggressive, I just say it with a "hey, what else can I do?" tone. Not flippant, but just honest. I am very honest that I find the behavior offensive. I was once called a n***er lover. My response: I love all people, even those who spew hate. I don't believe in discrimination. That left them speechless. Within a couple of weeks, they had moved their kid to another school district. A few months later, I got a call from the new teacher asking about what we'd experienced with the kid and the parents. The same behavior was happening and the teacher basically said the same thing I did to the parents. They became enraged. I guess having every teacher say the same thing got to be too much. But hey, what the hell did they expect?

9. One thought --
It seems to be teenagers who are egging him on - not that his parents may not be the same way, but I would suggest that the current state of our educational system and the empty-headed, hate-filled 'music' they listen to is part of the problem. We need far more tolerance education in our high schools -- far more.

34. Agreed - I am just pointing out that the eggers in this case seem
to be teens. In my life, my older sister egged me on to smoke and watch bad movies. Teens are more likely to do this than parents, even most racist parents.

She did not egg me on to be racist, even though my parents were, because my opinions about racism were very clear from the time I was very young. I got in debates with my parents about their language and beliefs from the time I was in first or second grade. I got slapped by my father when I refused to help him put up a temperamental curtain rod after he called it a "n***** rig." My father had Native American ancestry (and tanned a lovely shade of copper-brown when he spent time outside) -- he and my mother were terribly hurt when they moved from Oklahoma to St. Louis and the people in St. Louis made racist remarks about 'Indians'. Then he and my mother would turn around and make racist comments about African Americans.

What made me the only person in the family who fought it? Past-life memories? Probably Saturday morning TV and Sesame Street with many, many messages about tolerance. Skin glorious skin! Look at all the wonderful colors it comes in! Bill Cosby was awarded his honorary Ed.D. as a result of the incredible work he did in tolerance education.

33. Given that we do have, and always have had, parents who don't
teach tolerance and don't keep adequate tabs on what their kids are listening to and doing - I think it is highly appropriate to provide schools & community groups with the resources they need to do this. And we are a long, long, long way from doing this. :(

I fully understand that the larger frame is our society. Michael Moore makes the point brilliantly in 'Columbine' -- the high schoolers in Canada watch as many violent movies and play as many violent video games, but aren't as violent as US teens. Look to our societies' leaders to understand what is 'wrong with the kids'.

We had a huge Cinco de Mayo festival at school last week in the evening. I asked one of my 4th grade girls if she was coming back after school for the festival and she said "My mom doesn't want me hanging out with those Mexicans".

90% of the kids at our school are Hispanic. I wanted so bad to ask if her if that meant that her mom was finding a new school for her next year. LOL

Can you tell she is NOT one of my favorite students?

She is a little bitch. I could write a book about her. On and her parents think she's an angel. I just smile at her through gritted teeth. And she tells me every day she loves me. :wtf:

BTW, I did call her mother to tell her what she said about the Mexicans. Because I am 100% positive that her mother DID tell her that. And she said it in front of a whole class of Hispanic kids. I thought her mom should know she needs to keep her racist comments out of her daughter's hearing range.

I have pics of her I can share with you the next time I see you. She's a treat :)

27. That's why I called Mom
It is so sad - we are seeing lots more racism lately. Today a mom called when I was in the office to complain about her kid getting suspended for threatening to burn down the school. She thought the principal had "overreacted" since he was a black kid in a "Mexican school". (Oh so I guess it's okay to threaten arson if you are outnumbered by Mexicans!)

Then last year a kid in my class was suspended for telling a girl he wanted to fuck her. His mother went ballistic, saying it was unfair because "She is a Mexican girl and I told him he couldn't date Mexicans". I told her, "Well that doesn't mean he gets to sexually harrass them". She then called the superintendent on me! LOL

31. That is disgusting. It prompted me to check hate crime stats and
much to my surprise, I discovered that California leads the nation in hate crimes committed (18% crimes vs.12% of the US population).

Another thing that was revealed to me is that black people are responsible for roughly 20% of all hate crimes while only constituting 12% of the US population.

However, the most frightening statistic in my mind relates religious intolerance. While Jews only constitute 2% of the US population, 68% of religion based hate crime was anti-Semitic in nature!

Hate is a terrible thing, but it appears that Jews and white people are the least likely to commit hate crimes.

39. Doesn't anyone remember the lyrics from the
Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, South Pacific?

South Pacific came out in 1949, and its major theme was racial prejudice. In 1949. It included the following number:

"You've Got to Be Carefully Taught"

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!
