NBC Nightly News (MSM--ha!) just gave story credit to The Daily Show
The tape that Jon Stewart played last night showing Bush using the EXACT same words in his nomination to head the CIA yesterday and when he nominated Porter Goss ~2 years ago.

Brian Williams played the tape and then gave credit to Comedy Central and TDS.

3. I wonder why the news corps didn't know it without Stewart showing it.
You would think that so-called journalists would be even SOMEWHAT alert and have SOME memory skills.

7. They don't even NEED to investigate, but remembering seems to be too great
an expectation of them.

I remembered it clearly the moment Bush said the words.

23. Good catch! Someone ought to edit Bush's comments to make him
sound really stupid.

Wait a minute.

Editing isn't necessary.

It's always there, all the time.

Like I told my husband, who was perplexed about how to vote in Oregon's gubernatorial election and subsequent elections.

"Here's what you do, honey. Whoever has a (D) after his name is who you vote for! As long as the person is breathing and SPEAKING REASONABLE ENGLISH, you'll be headed in the right direction -- getting this FOOL and his PARTY out of our collective hair."

Barney could have done a better job speak on those two occasions than Bush did! At least he would have said "WOOF" and then "ARF"!

10. Journalism?
Is googling for "Goss+nomination+transcript" considered an investigation?
Christ! It's the very first step.

You're right. Stenographer is much preferred to journalist.

38. You forget, being alert and having memory skills are NOT to be part of
the relationship between the "press" and the WH. It's only Make. Announce. Type.
That's it. Nothing else is allowed.

9. TDS must have a crack investigative team
They consistently pull this stuff out of nowhere. Even stuff the bloggers miss. And the bloggers don't miss much.

Just like that piece showing Rumsfeld making that "henny-penny" statement about Iraq AND Iran.

Most of the scoops come from the blogs and TDS (with the occasional scoop found in print journalism).

The good news is that the corporate bullies no longer control what is news. Way more truth is available these days.

34. ummm no McGovern did it all by himself.
He quoted word for word what bush said. All "The Daily Show" did was find the tape that McGovern was referring to and play it. BTW every show on AAR did that too.

35. TDS also showed how the MSM handled McGovern after the
Rumsfeld question. It was horrific. All the MSM talking heads were attacking McGovern, not the lies about war. Also, Fox did a special with Rumsfeld in which they kissed his ass for an hour. Rumsfeld pointed out a piece of the plane from 9/11 and called it "wonderful". It was pretty sick.

43. Now folks...you got it straight from Colbert
The media does not investigate, that is no longer in the job discription...that was the quaint "Yesterday's media". Today the media's job is to take the daily talking points directly from the WH, then copy-paste it, spell check it, and print in...go home and continue the book that they had been knocking around, you know the story about the intrepid Washington Investigative Journalist...you know fiction.
