I had great conversations both times. The second time, I even called to criticize (gently) the fact that a previous caller had revealed Cheney's personal medical information that shouldn't have been revealed, I don't care who he was.

At that, she started a bit of a lecture about they do it to us. I let her finish, and answered, "But Randi, we're better than they are." We went on to have a great talk. In fact, I was most of that segment.

In most cases when she interrupts people it's because they don't let her finish her point. Yesterday she started screaming at some moron because he didn't know who was running for the House in his district. That moron deserved it.

many voters that do not know the Congressional district they are in and still manage to cast ballots. I do not know if that person was sincere about being a repuke that would "vote" for certain Dems but cutting him off and ranting about his not knowing his district accomplished nothing. (The next caller, a Dem., said that he did not know his district either. In Texas it is really hard to keep up with our reredistricted areas. Mine is "now" 11 and surprise, surprise we now have a Delay hand picked repuke instead of a Dem as our rep. and unfortunately he is running unopposed.)It is her show but she definitely stinks at listening. You gave a good example about being a good listener yourself and that seemed to set the tone for a legitimate conversation between the two of you. Don't take calls if you aren't going to converse and that means there is a give and take on both sides. I have heard her berate veterans for still supporting bush and give no time for someone from NO to talk about their experiences because she had sooo much she wanted to rant about and completely miss the point of listeners' calls simply because she was not listening and was off before the person could clarify things. It is obviously her show but I really see no point in her taking calls except to set topics up for rants. These calls are not conversations and perhaps they are not meant to be. I love her presentation of the facts, her passion and her dedication to the Dems but when she takes calls, I cringe.

If all she does is scream her head off over the callers, then why take calls? To be a bully?

She should have her own show on CNN but we know that won't happen.

because I just couldn't stand listening to Ed Schultz driving home from work. The signal where I was driving was so weak that she kept fading in and out, but I heard enough of her conversation with a freeper-type to get me thinking.

You know what it is that I love (and what might be what some find uncomfortable) about her? She knows her shit ... she hits the mark, can back up what she is saying with a time line that anyone can follow and check out on their own ... and she is showing the outrage that we keep asking about when we ask "Where is the outrage?" That's it in a nutshell. She bring the outrage backed up with facts. Not manufactured outrage, not skirted facts heavily peppered with "truthiness" ... but the cold hard, bare bones facts. She doesn't back down and she doesn't hesitate to give it to either side when they need a kick in the reality pants.

Listening to her, fading in and out, was the highlight of my drive home.

Unfair generalizations, name-calling, dumbed-down criticism of vital failures of Bush and the Repubs, and she turns into a screaming Bill O'Reilly when challenged by a calm, intelligent caller. People with differing opinions, even those who mostly agree with her, are declared by Randi to be Republicans.

And I won't accept the idea that she is a necessary balance to the Right Wing media, because that is the same excuse used by Righties when trying to justify the obvious bias of Fox News.

Unlistenable, IMO, except for those who want their politics uninformed. But she reaches an audience.

That's the simple difference. I suggest you actually listen to the entire content of her show before making a judgment based on a 2 minute snippet where she talked over a caller. The rest of her show is hard facts, can you not handle the truth?

And you are using a Rush/Randi debate tactic: Making baseless assumptions and stating them as fact.

"100% Truth"? You sound like a true believer. Just because Randi is on "our side", don't lose your critical thought about issues when she talks. Nobody possesses 100% truth, and those who claim to are simple-minded blowhards like Bush, O'Cryly, Falwell, Rush, Hannity, and Stephen Colbert's celebrity alter ego whom he crafted specifically to satirize those who claim to have such an insight into truthiness.

I'm not saying she hasn't made a mistake here and there, but her aim is 100% truth. She says this almost every day, "Don't take my facts at face value, verify them by looking them up." Do the RW blowhards do that? No, they say "Trust ME" period. It's the essence of truthiness.

Since you're now comparing her to Rush, O'Reilly, Falwell and Hannity, why don't you give her show a call today and present your argument that she's full of shit just like all those RW hosts. Have fun!

I dare you to call her today. Call her up and debate her about a real issue, it should be really easy since you think she's so "simple minded".

As has been acknowledged by many in this thread, intelligent debate with Randi doesn't happen due to the interruptions, screaming, cutting-off, name-calling, etc. whenever she encounters someone who disagrees with her. Hence my dislike for her show.

It happens every time she talks with intelligent people, which fortunately is the vast majority of callers. Do you spend hours debating random idiots off the street? I sure don't, it's a waste of time.

If you were listening about 30 minutes ago you would have heard a prime example of this. The caller said he had never heard about the aluminum tube story or any of the other lies that BushCo told to start this fake war, and Randi simply called him a slow learner. Why the hell should she talk to people who refuse to join reality?

Let's get this straight. Even the most strident or our radio personalities do not pull stuff out of their asses like Limbaugh does. Limbaugh is in a cesspool all by himself.

I listen just about every day, she's backed off on playing chucklenutz* so much and I appreciate that, it seems lately that there are fewer callers trying to argue the other side, some, but not as many.
I wouldn't change a thing about her if I could we need someone to cheerlead like this for us.

I am huge fan, I have XM just for her, but I wish when she gets callers, RW callers, she would let them talk. I have found that if you allow them to get a word in edge wise they look dumb as hell... All she does is talk over them, she gets hung up on one word and just rails on... Let the damn people speak some, let them make a point, and then tell them they are full of shit and here is why...

When she takes calls I have to now turn her off....

And for those of you who are so culturally impaired as to not know who Ms. Broslofski is, she's the mother of Kyle on "South Park." The intrusive, only-my-voice-counts, annoying yenta with a red beehive hairdo who bosses her poor lawyer husband around.

The only people Ms. Rhodes allows to speak for more than a sentence are those poor right-wing saps who think they can make a fool of her. Which does make for entertaining radio. But...if you agree with what she's saying...she'll cut you off to go off on her own rant. Better for her to say it than you, right?

Either a lot of her fans are submissives who want a woman to lord it over on them, or they're people who don't think their opinions are worth as much as Rhodes's. Either way, when she comes on at 3 PM locally, I switch my Internet radio back to Dementia Radio.

She is often rude to callers, and usually when they don't deserve that treatment. I stopped listening to her the time she was talking about how the insurgents -- those guys who blow up our troops, as well as Iraqi civilians -- should be considered "freedom fighters".

I commute across town -- used to hate the drive -- but I hardly notice it anymore, listening to Randi on XM. My local AAR station -- KOKE in Austin -- had Ed Schultz instead of Randi so I got XM. I will listen to him on ocassion -- I've got the timing down so I listen to Ed for about two minutes during Randi's breaks. I am a bad liberal cause I could be van pooling to work but I need to listen to Rachel Maddow in the morning and Randi in the afternoon.

My favorite - I also love Randi. Next I like Steph, Mike, Sam and Rachael but Randi is the one who cracks me up and also makes me want to be more politically active. She motivates me. New Yorker's interupt - I grew up that way and it's hard to stop. I like her aggressiveness and I'm glad she interrupts stupid uninformed people. Why do all Dem's have to be so polite. Being polite can be very boring. Randi has been so so so good on Lou Dobbs.

I grew up that way too. It was part of standing up for yourself and getting your point across.
