They are either puking in disgust or praising her courage. After reading the inserts I may add my own review. Wonder if she talks about how she wasn't on the stage at the end of the GOP convention with all the other family members.
Here are some of the reviews:
I don't know what this book is trying to accomplish, it's neither history or a good political analysis nor a good biography. It seems like a bunch of poorly written passages hurried together to make money before her father's tenure. Her silence before the book makes it suspect

I enjoyed "Sisters" more. , May 10, 2006
Reviewer: Beulah - See all my reviews
My guess is that this book is silently being bought by the thousands by Rupert Murdoch, Richard Mellon-Scaife, Mary's own mother Lynne, of "Sisters" fame, Lucianne Goldberg, and of course, every conservative website in the country, to be given away at dinner parties, as a complimentary gift when people subscribe, etc. Don't wait for Matt Drudge and Andrew Sullivan's opinions. They still have their fingers in the breeze formulating their opinions. Wait till this book is remaindered, (if you have to), then snatch up a copy when it gets as low as $1 a copy or lower. Mark my words, when Mary Cheney is the first lady to the first lesbian President in the U.S.A., this book will be as hard to find as hens' teeth, and will become even harder to find after Mary pulls her permission to republish, giving as a reason: "It's not my best work."
-------------------------
Mary Cheney is the national poster child for the biggest traitor to the gay and lesbian movement in the last decade.
Her father's reaction when, at age 16, she told him she was a lesbian. "You're my daughter and I love you and I just want you to be happy."
Right. Her father is all love and kittens when it's Dick's own family; but the rest of us can go fck ourselves.
In the promotion material for her book she says she almost quit her job with the 2004 campaign when President Bush endorsed the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would ban same-sex marriage. "But I'd made a commitment to the campaign and my family, and I knew how crucial it was to win this election. I was working for a candidate I knew I could count on, a man I could support without reservation. I was working for my dad."
Does it make any difference that her "Dad" is a neo-conservative elistist homophobic energy lobby whore? apparently not.
"I am and have always been very open and honest about who I am."
<...>
On John Kerry mentioning her sexuality during one of the presidential debates. "I was furious. It was a blatant and sleazy political ploy."
Yeah, whatever Mary. You can't be both "very open and honest" and then get all hurt that it's mentioned publicly. That's not how it works. What part of "pride" was lost on you? What a squandered chance to educate Bushies... but then squandering chances is what BushCo does best, isn't it?
Mary - you're an embarassment.
I'm trying to figure out who you're audience is? Queers and progressives aren't the audience, because we see her (correctly) as a Judas; and conservatives aren't the audience because her very existence is anathema to them; so, who?
Can anyone hear Mary Cheney say "We're just waiting for the state and federal laws to catch up with us" and not notice the disconnect from reality?
