PROTEST: Forward Your Phone Bills to the White House
Edited on Thu May-11-06 10:49 PM by nashuaadvocate
I've been thinking about this and kind of wondering: why not?

Why SHOULDN'T a million or more Americans just forward their phone bills to the White House, in order to make the unambiguous statement: if you think you have a right to this, President Bush, WHY DON'T YOU PAY IT, TOO, ASSHOLE!

I have to think the press coverage would be INCREDIBLE. The fact is, if we don't "own" this info, we shouldn't be exclusively responsible for PAYING FOR IT.

S.

1. No.
I didn't agree to surrender my phone information in the first place, I'm not going to now, even in protest.

2. Problem Is That Comes Off As More Condoning Than It Does Protesting.
I could see them taking that as a sign that americans want them to have their phonebills in the spirit of fighting the so called war on terror. Kinda like saying "we support you shrub! here's my phone bill! I don't mind giving it up if it is for the good of america!"

3. Would It Help To Call Your Phone Company And Lodge A Complaint?...
We could inundate the phone companies with complaints about this. Oh but they thought about that - they'll charge me for my call to them.

Has anyone thought about a class action suit. All of the U.S. citizens against the phone companies. How many of them are us?

4. Better yet - Mail them the equivilent number of pages of BLANK PAPER
and write PHONE BILL in crayon on the first page, the rest blank! :)

6. Yeah, I think the point is, (as I edited my message above)...
...if we don't exclusively own the right to this information (as in, if we're not paying a wireless carrier or land-line carrier to keep this information private), why should we have to foot the entire bill?

7. Website?
What if S. and I set up a website like Bill-Bush.com, where people could sign on and say they'd forwarded their phone bill to Pennsylvania Avenue? It would make the protest visible and help explain all the mail arriving at the White House. The point, I think, would be that gov't already has all the information, so now they should pay for it.

12. Thanks for the Welcome!
I'm surprised more people aren't excited about this idea. We were hoping for a show of support that would encourage us to go ahead and set up the website. Any ideas as to why this doesn't appeal?
