Bush, December 05: "ONLY INTERNATIONAL calls being monitored"
In other words, HE LIED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE *AGAIN*.

..."The fact that we're discussing this programme is helping the enemy," he added.

The New York Times reported last Friday that Mr Bush had signed a secret presidential order following the 11 September 2001 attacks, allowing the National Security Agency to track the international telephone calls and e-mails of hundreds of people without referral to the courts.

Previously, surveillance on American soil was generally limited to foreign embassies.

Mr Bush emphasised that only international calls were monitored without a court order - those originating in the US, or those placed from overseas to individuals living in the US.....

3. Has Bush ever lied to us?
Yes, often. Too often. Way too often.

4. Weasel words again, so he can't technically be said to have lied?
They are "monitoring" international calls - that means listening in on ALL of them. But they are merely tracking patterns of US calls, not actually listening in on all of THEM.

7. So he says.
Next we'll find out how many "attacks" he stopped because he listened in on domestic calls.

8. No. He lies.
If he says the sky is clear, then it's black. If he says WMDs, then there aren't any. If he says clean water, then it's dirty. These are lies.

6. The Porter in Macbeth
Edited on Thu May-11-06 11:51 PM by Jack Rabbit
Knock, knock! Who's there, in the other devil's name? Faith, here's an equivocator, that could swear in both the scales against ither scale; who committed treason enough for God's sake, yet could not equivocate to heaven: O, come in, equivocator.

9. TIA Lives On, 23-Feb-06, National Journal
Edited on Fri May-12-06 12:29 AM by pat_k
The monumental call detail database is just one part of the program formerly known as Total Information Awareness (TIA).

Americans unequivocally rejected TIA three years ago. We demanded that Congress kill it and they did. On the imperial order of Bush, they slapped on new labels and kept going (TIA Lives On, 23-Feb-06, National Journal).

Treason is defined as "Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign."

In the United States, it is the collective will of the people that is sovereign.

Their actions constitute treason.

It is only a matter of time until we learn that they've put in place every aspect of their Big Brother TIA vision. (Given their record of failure, it probably doesn't work, but incompetence is not an excuse. The attempt is the crime.)

Bush and his minions not only terrorized us into war with baseless threats of mushroom clouds, they nuked the Constitution with their fascist fantasy of unitary authoritarian power. They have made it crystal clear that nothing short of Impeachment will put an end to their treasonous exercise of unrestrained power.

Members of Congress have a sworn duty to support and defend the Constitution. We gave Congress -- our voice -- the power to impeach so they could fulfill their oath.

As long as members of Congress do nothing to take the massive power of the American Presidency out of the hands of traitors, they are breaking their Congressional oath.

We know all we need to know right now. Every time Bush and Cheney publicly claim the right to break our laws they are publicly declaring their guilt. Comprehensive investigation to determine the full extent of their crimes can continue after they are out.

Members of the Democratic caucus are trapped in deep denial about the grim reality of our national predicament. When they see the truth, I have no doubt that they are going to profoundly regret every single day they did nothing to force Bush out of power.

Let's save them some of that pain. We need to kick some butt and get them moving.

When the process gets rolling, Bush and Cheney will be out so fast it will leave the pund-idiots sputtering. And we don't need the entire Democratic caucus to see the truth to get it rolling -- it could take less than half the Dems to reach critical mass.

If you want to see members of Congress march up to the White House and say "surrender power now or be impeached tomorrow" do something -- large or small -- to help make it happen.
