White House Stands by Hayden Nomination

By KATHERINE SHRADER

WASHINGTON - The White House continued to stand by its nominee for CIA director, Gen. Michael Hayden, amid new controversy over the surveillance programs he piloted as head of the National Security Agency.

Hayden was to meet with senators on Friday, his fifth day of face-to-face sessions on Capitol Hill since a Monday morning breakfast with Senate Intelligence Chairman Pat Roberts, R-Kan.

"We're full steam ahead on his nomination," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Thursday.

Lawmakers have been demanding information from the Bush administration about the NSA's efforts to collect records on millions of Americans' phone calls.

1. but the NSA thing will make confirmation much more difficult!
I expect his confirmation hearings will have a LOT to do with the NSA spying scandal........

I don't know if he will be confirmed but, at this point, it's going to be a battle.......

2. Polls mean absolutely nothing to BushCo, Rove has the elections
Edited on Fri May-12-06 03:06 AM by LaPera
in the bag dude...Their fascist agenda will proceed. They are counting on the machines to keep their majority for at least two more years (they have the machines for 2008 as well). Because Dem's just refuse to believe...

So we can do very little, as we will all gather round to watch the returns, keep it going and with very few questions asked, except, at the end, disappointed, dejection, pointing fingers at each other how it could of been different, IF... But, you just you wait till 2008...

When will we the Democrats learn...it just keeps going on and on...Rove is STILL laughing.

Divide & Conquer! (And republican owned electronic voting machines, Rah, rah, kind of empty in the end)!

3. Its' not Bush's "base", it's Bush's "backwash"
Steven Colbert for President.

Sadly, though, the oil and extraction industries still have 1000 days to rape and ruin the countryside.
