(forgive me for posting a lot of article, its important)

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Nine Muslim men arrested in Australia's biggest security swoop, and charged with planning a terrorist act, pretended to be women texting girlfriends to secretly communicate, a prosecutor told a court on Friday.

"Hi babes, I'm missing you," one message read, while another said: "How you going love, did Sue want to meet me."

During a bail application for one of the men, Khaled Cheikho, 32, in the New South Wales Supreme Court, a prosecutor said the men used "covert phones" under false names and code to communicate, Australian Associated Press reported from the court.

One message between Cheikho and co-accused Mohammed Elomar referred to the purchase of some insulation tape allegedly used to make explosives, said prosecutor Wendy Abraham.

"Hello darling, could you let me know if you still have rolls of the silver tape," a message from Cheikho read.

Abraham said the text messages were also used to organize meetings between the men.

5. question about texting....
does the phone save the message? You think they would have been smart enough to delete them.

7. See * Said - This Is Why We Have To Monitor Americans' Phone Calls....
and see how crafty these terrorists are. They know we are monitoring phone calls - so they start using text messaging. We'll just have to spy on everything everybody does. In fact - we are instituting a program to install two way TV screens in every room in America. We need to be watching you. In fact - when my big (affectionately called big by George because of his weight problem) brother Jeb takes over the presidency in '08 we want to make it easier for him than it was for me to protect America.

8. Nice Suck-Up Covering for the Blivet's NSA, John Howard.
One conservative covering for another conservative's "backwash backlash."

"Lookie over here! We Aussies are catching ter'rists by eavesdropping on phones!"

Then the Aussies should throw Howard and bunch out, too.

Anyone know if the Australians have protections against this sort of thing? If not, it's perfect to use a compliant ally to show the world, "Hey, we do this here, it's legal here, and see...Grand results!"

Well, I say, "G'Day, John Howard...and good luck with that."
