Prediction: Bush Monday Speech: Attack on Iran & Military at Borders
Here's what I think Bush is going to say Monday night. Just a hunch. Based on recent posts here on DU, the attack on Iran is coming very soon. Now Iran has threatened us with suicide attacks here in the U.S. if we do that, not to mention the fact that national security here at home will be seriously threatened. Therefore, we must first secure our borders with military forces to prevent terrorists from entering into our country through our open, unenforced borders.

This will be a very thorny issue. What will Mexico think? Will the illegals rise up in anger against our government, and will there be civil unrest now that our borders will be enforced? And will people realize that the immigration issue is not the real reason we're securing our borders, but rather to prevent terrorists from pouring into our country during the upcoming attack on Iran? Note: Some potential terrorists have already come into our country through our unenforced southern border, see http://www.kvoa.com/Global/story.asp?S=2172749

Will Bush announce the attack on Iran Monday night? Or will he hold off on that and secure the borders first? I personally think the latter is the most reasonable. But if he does this, if Bush does call the military to our borders, you can bet that the attack on Iran is coming on its heels - maybe even this month.

I still do hope we can stop this war with Iran. It would be a DISASTER!! And yet, I feel so powerless to stop it. This beast has taken on a life of its own, and only through impeachment can it be stopped...but I digress...

Just a thought...

1. Well, this is kinda their MO
They dig fear, and they know that's the only way they can win "hearts and minds."

3. Yeah, that's what I want to know.
I did hear National Guard as well, but even those guys are pretty stretched.

5. I think that's why we're stretched thin
I know we've kept troops in reserve for other projects. The base where I work near has train trestles miles long ready to receive equipment. They aren't dropping it off so something large is going to be deployed soon. Also there's always lots of willing Blackwater Mercs. happy to go fight for thousands a day. We're picking up the tab after all.

4. Nah, he's going to feed off the immigration anger out there, and
again deflect attention from what's really going on. That, he's good at. :puke:

because the immigration issue has effectively died from the press.

8. That he will, but that's what I've heard it's going to be about. And
ask Lou Dobbs whether he welcomes the debate. :eyes:

10. how would this advance his agenda?
bush is clearly for slaves oh i mean "guest workers" for the corps and is at odds with some of his base about the immigration issue. how would closing the borders with the military move this along?

12. He wants it both ways
Like Rome, our economy is built on slavery, like the old south too. He may want it both ways, but I don't see how it'll please both sides.
