They are just way behind us on the learning curve
I usually eat lunch alone but today our principal had a luncheon for us to celebrate Teacher Appreciation week. So the conversation turned to bush. My principal is a repuke. I think she brought up el pretzeldente on purpose to get me to say something she could argue with. She said she thought it was interesting that so many musicians were coming out with these anti bush songs. I said well you know his approval ratings are down to 29% today. Then she said well it is interesting to hear the Dixie Chicks are talking out against bush again, since they had lost a 'couple years of their career' over what they said the last time. She is my boss so I said nothing. Then she said she had seen the movie United 93 (is that the name? I can't remember) and people have obviously forgotten all about 9/11.

There was a pause and the whole group just looked at me. One of my co-workers even had her fork suspended in air, looking at me and waiting for me to talk. So I said "well, you know, I have a lot of friends who believe bush was involved in making 9/11 happen." My co-worker dropped her fork. LOL My principal said oh surely you don't believe that. I said well he did know about the attacks ahead of time. Didn't you see Fahrenheit 9/11? Someone said which part? I said remember condi telling about the memo bush got on August 11 that was titled 'bin laden determined to strike the US with airplanes'?

The group froze. They didn't know what to say. It's like they never made the connection before. So I told them all to go read the Downing Street Memo if they wanted to learn more and if they really wanted to understand why the loony leftists like me are so angry at the president. One of them grabbed a pen and wrote it down!

I left to go to the restroom and then came back in to thank my principal for the wonderful lunch and they were still talking about whether or not bush knew enough to prevent 9/11.

And it occurred to me that they are at the point we were all at a year or more ago, when we first learned about the Downing Street Memo. And remember how angry we were?

The next 6 months are going to be very interesting.
