Who's willing to drop their long distance out of protest and to send a
message to the companies about how upset they are.

My wife's friend is now buying calling cards and sending them with a letter encouraging her friends and family to drop their long distance carriers at least.

unfortunately in our area we have to use Verizon as local service.

2. Haven't had LD in years
Cell phones and prior to that phone cards and "dime line" service.

We are fortunate for the local service; we have several options and one is a small area company that has quality service and low prices. I love competition.

6. Already done
I dropped SBC/AT&T for DSL service when they were pushing so hard two or three months ago, wrote and told them straight up why I was leaving and that my phone service still hung in the balance. The day it passed committee I dropped that too, went to Vonage.

There's a video worth watching for anyone who isn't clear on what the issue is yet.

10. I would like to sue ATT for this violation of privacy.
I am currently investigating whether or not we can sue them. My first thoughts are that
there may be a right to privacy which has been violataed by these corps.
