850,000 teenagers will give birth this year in the U.S
May is National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month and a good time for parents to talk to their teens about the importance of reproductive health.

Despite a steady decline in the number of teen births over the past 10 years, the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy estimates that as many as 850,000 teenagers will give birth this year in the U.S and one in five teens will have sex before their 15th birthday. Preventing teen pregnancy is important. Studies indicate that teen mothers are less likely to complete high school, more likely to be single parents, and more likely to live in poverty than other teens.
