MySpace Photo Leads to Student's Arrest on Drug, Bomb Charges
Written for the web by C. Johnson, Internet News Producer

A Loomis high school student was arrested on bomb-making and drug charges after a sheriff's deputy identified a photo of the teen allegedly smoking marijuana on his MySpace.com Web page.

Del Oro High School student Daniel Blanchard, 18, a student was arrested last Friday by Placer County sheriff's deputies. Ryan Berry, a Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy assigned to the campus saw a photo of Blanchard smoking a bong on the teen's MySpace site and confronted Blanchard. The teen admitted smoking marijuana, .

At that point, Deputy Ryan Berry searched the student's backpack and reportedly found marijuana, hashish and a marijuana pipe. The search continued with Blanchard's car, where the sheriff's office says Berry confiscated more drugs, bongs, more than a dozen hypodermic needles, digital scales, packaging materials, and four knifes, inluding one with a 13-inch blade.

Also discovered in Blanchard's car was gun powder and a five-pound bag of potassium nitrate. "Those were very concerning to me," Berry said.
