It's time for a Boston Tea Party...we are NOT being represented.
Edited on Fri May-12-06 06:17 PM by linazelle
My tax dollars are being paid to Halliburton, disappearing to the tune of $9 billion in Iraq, being paid to phone companies to tap into my calling records. My tax dollars are not being spent on blighted cities in my own country, to educate my fellow Americans, or even to buy body armor for those in the current illegal war. My tax dollars are being spent to give tax cuts to the richest people in this country.

What am I paying for?

Discuss.

7. Hey, kids, not your phones! Diebold, ES&S and ALL election theft machines
into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!

Our window of opportunity to save this democracy has just OPENED--big New York Times article on massive insecurity in Diebold voting machines TODAY*--the lid is finally off; the "Iron Curtain" over this, the biggest scandal in our history, is finally lifting--and we need to throw these Bushite-controlled election theft corporations, with their 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming, and the corruption they have wrought, out of our election system NOW.

Congressional bills:

Russ Holt's HR 550 requires a real paper ballot, bans secret software in "voting machines", and has more than 170 co-sponsors, but the audit required is too weak, it promotes electronic voting and centralized power, and the secret software might be permitted to continue in the central tabulators (the bill is not clear). To sign the HR 550 petition: http://www.rushholt.com/petition.html
At lot of discussion at DU of the loopholes/pitfalls in HR 550:

(Note: Senate Bill-SB 330 and House-HR704 simply require a "voter verified paper audit trail" (VVPAT), which may be best for the moment.)
