I had an epiphany
Considering the political climate and the neo-cons desire to ruin Clinton is it possible Monica was a set up?. THEY knew his weakness. Could they have planted Monica in the WH?

That RUSH was addicted.:sarcasm:

Do any of us know Monica's politics? She came from money, so money should not have been her motivation?

Much better than the word moist. I hate "moist"
I dont know if Monica was in cahoots with the neoknuckleheads. Knowing how absolutely corrupt they are it would NOT surprise me . Not one bit.

18. To each his or her own. There are lots of women I find to be
attractive, and many other people don't.

So I won't argue that point with you. If you think she's pretty, then she is to you, and it would be stupid of me to argue the point, because there's likely a woman I find attractive who you don't think is so.

In the eye of the beholder, and all that. Plus, you may be right. There's that beret, which is kind of sassy, after all...

15. If you read The Hunting of the President, by Joe Conason and Gene Lyons,
I think you'll come to the conclusion that it was a set up.

The Arkansas Project had spent millions and spent years to get Clinton in some kind of financial problem or other illegality to absolutely no avail.

After 8 years in office without a blemish they could exploit and suddenly, Ms. Lewinsky, a PENTAGON intern, shows up at the White House - - over and over.

I believe Lewinsky's friend, Linda Tripp, worked at the Pentagon, too, and if I remember correctly, Lucianne Goldberg (Jonah Goldberg's - - of the National Review Online - - mother) was pulling Tripp's strings on this whole tawdry game.

You bet it was a setup. Doesn't excuse Clinton for his weakness nor for lying - - although they had no business asking him about it. So he's human. And Richard Mellon Scaife and the Arkansas Project knew he would be.

If she was a set up that is one reason that would explain her doing that.

32. You and my husband! He doesn't remember seeing it either.
We saw it at the Arboretum in Austin, and I came away so impressed with Susan McDougal's character and grit.

I went right out and bought her book as a show of support.

Wierd that people can't remember the film, although it was kind of short.

20. Even So, It Still Doesn't Change What He Did,
or the outcome. So I don't see what difference it would make. Even if she was hired by the GOP and danced around his office seductively while naked it doesn't change the fact that he committed an error of judgement. Course, I still find the whole ordeal to have been extremely petty anyway and wish to hell the only thing the current administration was doing wrong was something of that nature.

22. I wondered that years ago...
...but came to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter, does it? If true, they won a slight battle, in a manner of speaking, and in any case it is un-fixable now.

In the end, the American people decide if the GOP won that psychological war. By that I mean: did the GOP win the battle to paint the non-GOP half of the population as horrible, unworthy, immoral people? That is what remains to be seen, IMHO.

24. It was probably a setup, but not one that Lewinsky was consciously a part
of.
The Neocons knew his propensities, and when they found out her ambitions, they just made sure the two of them met.

25. Always suspected that--it was all too convenient
I just wondered if Monica herself was an accomplice--that, I could not resolve. Who would put themselves in such a position?

However, Linda Tripp and all the things that they lied about re: Clinton were suspect. I think...no I know they they wiretapped him. The fact that they came up with so little on him besides Monica speaks volumes about his character.

Finally, their behavior--the secrecy, the armed rifles pointed at citizens, the maximum security--all are signs that they are protecting themselves from the typeof boogeymen that they actually put out there for Clinton.

who's on a diet..

Apparently Monica made comments prior to meeting him, and the interns all talk.. It;s not unlikely that there were some "plants" in the intern staff, and the rest is history ... Linda Tripp sure "befirended" her right away and was always there to "counsel" her :(

Seriously, who cares anymore? George W. could snort coke off the bottom of a tranny hustler on the White House lawn and I'm convinced the press would ignore it. That should be the REAL issue here.

34. I had a cab driver in DC swear that was the case.
He said he ran a couple drunk GOP staffers who were talking about it before the '96 election. Clinton would win, they said, but not finish his second term. They told him to remember the initials "M.L."

Could be bullshit, but who knows?
