2. And no Dick Cheney holding his hand this time

All they need on him is one lie, and he's disgraced, at least according to the way they did the last president.

4. Maybe all these revelations about the various
administration criminals is why Pelosi is promising there will be no impeachment--who needs it if there is the distinct possibility they'll all be doing time?

5. Never happen. He will refuse to testify, or refuse to swear an oath, or
refuse to answer problematic questions. And remember, anything and everything he does is LEGAL, BY DEFINITION, according to him. He makes the laws by fiat. He makes the rules. He don't need no stinkin' Congress or court system to tell him what he can and can't do.

6. He's already lied to the investigators
In a grand jury investigation it doesn't matter if he was under other or not during the interview. It's still a crime. Ask Martha Stewart.

7. Don't have to be under oath to be charged with lying to feds. Ask Martha.

But conventional wisdom is that a sitting president must be impeached before he can be charged. It's an arguable point perhaps, but I think I recall that was the DOJ's position in regard to Nixon. After Nixon resigned Ford pardoned him to preclude any potential prosecution.

And just for another trip down memory lane, a sitting VP can be indicted. At least that's what they told Spiro Agnew when he ran into a spot of trouble and he tried to claim he couldn't be indicted and was going to try to tough things out. Old Spiro was encouraged to resign and cop a plea, which he did.
