www.wikithepresidency.org share the wealth of information at the DU

In the May 5 American Way we announced a new site – www.WikiThePresidency.org – set up to allow the general public to keep an ongoing record of White House wrongdoing for all to see. After many of you jumped in to start adding content, our server provider's hard drive irreparably failed and we were told no backups were made.

Well we’ve put it back up – on a new server maintained by a great new vendor. We’ve also returned as much content from the previous incarnation as possible, but we urge you to return and help compile a complete Bush record.

For those of you who didn’t have a chance to read that American Way, read on to find out what a fascinating experiment www.WikiThePresidency.org is.

People For the American Way decided it was about time the public had a single place to read up on the multitude of legally and ethically dubious policies and activities of the Bush Administration. With your help, our new wiki site could be the answer.

Using the same technology as the popular encyclopedia site Wikipedia.org (which is authored entirely by the general public), www.WikiThePresidency.org allows you to post any material you have about Bush administration wrongdoing, edit any material already posted, and create new topic areas at will.

We have launched this site with a small amount of content – just enough so you can see the type of material we seek. It's up to you and your friends to make this a truly useful new site for the nation.

Please keep in mind, this is not a blog for rants against the Bush administration (the world already has plenty of those). It has been created to grow into a resource for those seeking information on White House wrongdoing. Please, post only factual material backed up with links to reputable sources.

Visit www.WikiThePresidency.org today and see what could be possible with a little bit of help from you and your friends. If you can, carve out some time over the next week to input at least one really solid entry based on a recent news article that sticks in your craw. If you’re more the editing type, go into a section and improve other entries with more precise language or better transitions.

This is a site the public could really use – we want you to help build it.

This is a great chance for the wealth of information that has been posted on the DU to be organized into an encyclopedia of Bush's wrongdoings.

It's often bothered me that there isn't (that I can find) a single source that lists all of BushCo's many offences in one easily searchable place. The WikiThePresidency site is a welcome offering!
