Former inspector says politics quashed findings on Iraq `biotrailers'
A former U-N arms inspector says pressure from Washington kept the U-S public uninformed about the true nature of alleged Iraqi bioweapons trailers.
Rod Barton says a year after experts discredited the Bush administration claims of mobile bioweapons labs, U-S officials were still suppressing those findings. He says at one point, a C-I-A officer told him it was "politically not possible" to report that the White House claims were untrue.
Barton says in the end, he felt "complicit in deceit."
Barton discusses the 2004 events in a memoir called "The Weapons Detective."
