will president be addressing rove on monday's address?
I got a hunch. We've had rumors the past few weeks that Fitz was closing in on Rove, and now a report that he's indictment is imminent. If true, sounds like the perfect time for the president to address the nation in prime time, which would be prudent if Rove is indeed indicted. Sounds like a good time for a distraction, like sending the national guard to patrol the mexican border... My tinfoil hat is buzzing!

4. Bush is obligated to save Rove's rear end. This could get...
interesting.Bush is nervous as hell and has to insure Rove does not talk.

5. Did Bush sacrifice Rove to Bush's own ambition?
If the information wasn't really classified at the time that Rove and Libby talked about it with reporters, then Bush really sacrificed Rove by making him testify before the grand jury.

Bush had to know that Rove had talked about Plame with reporters. And Bush knew what was going on with the grand jury because he spoke with Fitzgerald in the presence of a lawyer. Why did Bush wait so long to say he had declassified this information. There is just something that doesn't make sense here. Maybe I'm confused about when Bush declassified it. Was it before or after Rove spoke to Matt Cooper? If it was before, then Bush could have stopped Rove from having to testify by simply admitting that he had declassified the information.

6. You've confused two different...
...transgressions by the administration: on the one hand, you've got Bush unilaterally and secretly (for about 10 days, nobody knew he'd done it, contrary to the normal process) declassifying parts of the National Intelligence Estimate on Saddam's WMDs; on the other, there's everyone and their mother(fuckers) at the White House telling their Press Corps(e) chums, "Don't believe Wilson; his wife Valerie Plame at the CIA set up the luxury vacation to Niger (?) for him." Both were meant to discredit Joe's criticism of the WH propaganda machine that greased the slide into this illegal war, but they were discrete indiscretions, if you'll pardon the pun.

8. What was the link between the Plame leak and the NIE
declassification? Was the leak of Plame's name declassified by the declassification of the NIE?

9. The link was...
...that they were part of an effort to discredit Joe Wilson. Plame's name, as I understand it, was not part of the unusual (and highly selctive) NIE "declassification". Besides which, my understanding is that even Bush would not be able to legally order the outing of a covert agent.

7. Rove who?
I think that will be the strategery, along with protectin' Murkins from the brown people who speak Mexican. Oh, and he probably will do some Iran chest thumping, which should raise prices at the pump by a dime or so. But, no, I think Rove will only be discussed by Patrick Fitzgerald in his Monday (no proof) press conference.
