CNN HLN: CHENEY IS "EXHIBIT A"
Edited on Sun May-14-06 06:28 AM by goodboy
CNN Headline News is reporting that in the Libby indictment the official named "exhibit a" is not Rove as many of us thought, but DICK, "Shotgun Facial" Cheneyquiddick

Holy Shit

no link yet

I realize that "exhibit a" is not the correct verbage from the indictment, but that's how the Chicken Noodle Network reported the story so in the intrest of keepin' it real, I left it the way it was. I'm sure they meant "Official A" per the Libby indictment.

on edit: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

A song for Cheney's Imminent Departure

I really do, revel in the fact you're goin' down
You thought you'd get away with it, but fitzgerald proved' you're a clown!
The warden 'll take your picture, -n- delouse your nutsack too...

5. I think they were talking about Cheney's handwritten notes...
...on the margins of the Wilson Niger Op-Ed. Isikoff broke the story yesterday:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12774274/site/newsweek/

<snip>
The role of Vice President Dick Cheney in the criminal case stemming from the outing of White House critic Joseph Wilson's CIA wife is likely to get fresh attention as a result of newly disclosed notes showing that Cheney personally asked whether Wilson had been sent by his wife on a "junket" to Africa.
Cheney's notes, written on the margins of a July 6, 2003 New York Times op-ed column by former ambassador Joseph Wilson, were included as part of a filing Friday night by prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in the perjury and obstruction case against ex-Cheney chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

The notes, Fitzgerald said in his filing, show that Cheney and Libby were "acutely focused" on the Wilson column and on rebutting his criticisms of the White House's handling of pre-Iraq war intelligence.
</snip>

Here's the doc (from TPM Muckraker):

6. "Exhibit A"
refers to Document 105-2, filed on 5-12-06 by Mr. Fitzgerald. It is VP Cheney's copy of Joseph Wilson's NY Times op-ed, and includes interesting notes VP Cheney wrote in the margins.

Rove is "Official A" in the Libby indictment.

have you seen where he asks the question about Wilson's wife sending him to Niger? I believe that shows cheney knew she was at the CIA.

15. Two things to keep
in mind, from the Libby Indictment:

(page 4) "5. On or about June 9, 2003, a number of classified documents from the CIA were faxed to the Office of the Vice President to the personal attention of Libby and another person in the Office of the Vice President. The faxed documents, which were marked as classified, discussed, amoung other things, Wilson and his trip to Niger, but did not mention Wilson by name. After receiving these documents, Libby and one or more other persons in the Office of the Vice President handwrote the names 'Wilson' and 'Joe Wilson' on the document."

(page 5) "9. On or about 12, 2003, Libby was advised by the Vice President of the United States that Wilson's wife worked at the Central Intelligence Agency in the Counterproliferation Division. Libby understood that the Vice President had learned this information from the CIA."

17. I have had
it on much, though not all, of the morning. I did not think it implied Cheney was Official A. It is worth noting that Robert Luskin has admitted publicly that it was Rove, and there is no doubt that it was Rove.

8. Cheney's Notes in the Margin-Doesn't it suggest that VP didn't send Joe W?
Don't these notes suggest that Cheney didn't send Joe Wilson to Niger?

11. Agreed. Also, check this out from Newsweek....
It states that Wilson "wrote that he had been dispatched by the CIA" - not necessarily by Darth Vader...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12774274/site/newsweek/

<snip>

"In the column, which created a firestorm after its publication, Wilson wrote that he had been dispatched by the CIA without pay to Niger in February, 2002 to investigate an intelligence report that Iraq was seeking uranium from the African country for a nuclear bomb. Wilson said he was told Cheney had asked about the intelligence,but the White House subsequently ignored his findings debunking the Niger claims.

In the margins of the op-ed, Cheney jotted out a series of questions that seemed to challenge many of Wilson's assertions as well as the legitimacy of his CIA sponsored trip to Africa: "Have they done this sort of thing before? Send an Amb. to answer a question? Do we ordinarily send people out pro bono to work for us? Or did his wife send him on a junket?"

12. Wilson didn't say Cheney sent him...
The CIA sent him in response to a question from the VP about the yellow cake. It's the rightwing talking point that distorts that to say Wilson claimed the VP sent him or asked that he be sent so they could then (rightly) say the VP didn't do that. It's a smoke screen.

13. Here is my take

Cheney does say is it usual to send an Amb to answer a question.

Cheney is admitting he asked the question of the CIA.

The CIA chose to answer the question in part by sending Wilson to Niger.

Cheney is like - wholly #$%^, they sent Wilson to Niger to answer my question, and now Wilson has proven me wrong.
