So where's Barbara & Jenna today?
Edited on Sun May-14-06 09:02 AM by DoYouEverWonder
Pickles was just on doing an interview with George Snuffalufagus and said that she regretted that neither Barbara or Jenna were going to be able to be with her today.

Now first these are not just anyone's kids. These girls are the children of the 'First Family' of the party of Family Values.

Second, neither one seems to have found gainful employment since they left college and neither one has married so its not like they have their own families to be with, so what the hell could be so important that neither one of these spoiled brats can bother to put in an appearance for Mother's Day?

the poor?

Now we just gotta find the bar that all these people hang out in and we'll know where Jenna and Not Jenna are today.

It made me sad though; thinking what could have been if not for diebold and the supreme court.
I can only hope that the rumours are true, and he is thinking about running again.

11. Last time I googled them out of idle curiosity
They had been seen dancing drunk on a table at a D.C. bar. This was a few months ago and was reported widely (snort!)-- I believe I found the write-up in the Asia Times. Truly amazing when I remember how the press hounded Chelsea Clinton...

12. Speaks volumes, doesn't it?
Two young women, not long out of college, apparently with little to do other than party, with the resources to be anywhere they want, choose not to put in a Mother's Day appearance and - in their case - miss a photo op that would valuable to their father whose poll numbers have tanked. That crew puts the "dys" in dysfunctional.

I will look for it.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune looks at what some of the famous daughters of politicians are doing now. Jenna Bush is teaching in a charter school in Washington D.C. and her sister, Barbara did volunteer work in South Africa.

35. can't verify
stated as an opinion, with a link to a Minneapolis article that is no longer able to be found. The blogger could simply be making an inference based on the "future reference" articles that were initially written. Would have to read the article (that I can't find) that the blogger linked in that post.

But it is a hot topic of conversation on teacher blog sites. I have assumed all year it is true. But hey, if not, I won't place it high on my list of things I have been wrong about in my life.

28. written in the future tense
as in "plans to"... "will teach"... I seem to recall some hoopla per her plans, then references to not taking the job. Could be wrong, but need to find something that talks in the present or past tense (as in "has found her teaching job to be...", or "spends her time with x grade students doing...")

29. She isn't highly qualified as NCLB now requires
of PUBLIC schools, which is why she is working in a charter school.

There have been several articles in teacher mags about her job and several education discussion boards were all over it when she started. The joke was that at least she wouldn't have discipline problems - not with secret service agents standing in the back of the room. LOL

39. But isn't this typical Bushian behavior?
The truth is not exactly the same as the bio. Laura Bush is referred to as a teacher with years of experience. In reality, she was a librarian briefly but hasn't held a job for over twenty years. And George W. Bush said he fulfilled his National Guard obligation. Yet there is not record of his completing his service.
There is a huge gulf between those of us who rise early every day, fight traffic, and work a minimum of 8 hours a day, five days a week. And the idle rich. Who have a "job" which apparently doesn't require actually showing up. Or, showing up infrequently.
Poor GWB. He now, for the first time in his life, has a job with requirements. Every single day. No more playboy "oil man". Or baseball owner. Even his governor tenure wasn't particularly demanding -- not in Texas where the governor is more ceremonial, like the queen, than active administratively.
These are not people used to "working hard."
And it shows.

26. NOT a teacher, unless things have changed.....
"The Post reported in December that Jenna was going to teach at Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School in a low-income neighborhood.

But after rumors flew that Jenna had actually started as a teaching assistant, the Post spoke to executive director Linda Moore.

"Jenna Bush is not employed as a teacher at the school," Moore said.

Asked whether Jenna was working as an assistant teacher, Moore said: "I can’t confirm that."

That’s when Moore mentioned No Child Left Behind.

She told the Post there are "some very strict requirements about who can be hired and what their credentials have to be, and they do apply to charter schools."

All Laura Bush’s spokesman would say is 'Jenna Bush has started work.'"

just a few months ago. Yes, she couldn't get hired in NYC, since she didn't have a teaching degree. But DC has less stringent rules for teachers in charter schools.
