Re: NSA Phone logs excuse: "It's nothing you can't get from Google."
Okay, why didn't they use Google?

The "You don't need to worry if you don't have anything to hide."

Okay, you wouldn't mind if I rummage around your house for a few hours next time you leave? I promise, I'm just going to assure myself you aren't a terrorist.

Any other nice short answers for the new batch of STP's? (STP=Stupid Talking Points)

how come the people who balk at giving a poor person $.05 in welfare or funding the arts don't seem to mind paying for propaganda and domestic spying?

3. But is it information they could get from Google?
Does Google track the phone calls of American citizens? What search criteria would someone have to use?

Yep, stupid talking points all right.

5. If you could use google, you should have because it has the
advantage of not being illegal to do so.

7. You can't google who called who
you can google a phone number--if you have a name. And vice versa. But that's not what BushCo wants. They want to know the numbers you call, to see if you are calling anyone interesting. Google doesn't have that info, period.

Don't believe for a second that the freeps will give you time to say that, or even a second of thought over the issue. They're tossing back the lemon lime koolaid today.

8. On WJ earlier today, the line was brought up 2-3 times before
finally a Dem caller stated the obvious as you just did.

Two minutes later, another republican lemming called with the same line.

I would imagine Rush or Sean said it Friday, so the stupid took it as fact without ever stopping to think about it.

11. How can Google have that information?
Their machines probably keep logs of waht sites various IPs have visited and what searches were launched from those IPs. But phone calls don't go through them... Sure, if the phone companies put their logs on the web, then Google could find the information.

13. When the gov't
decides someone is "a person of interest" because the information they have retrieved, that person's reputation, livelihood, friends, family can be lost - even if the accusations turn out to be false. Somehow I don't think Google is in the same league.
