Jason Leopold on NPR this morning?
Edited on Sun May-14-06 01:33 PM by Gregorian
Did anyone hear this? There's a post over at DKos that mentioned they had heard him. His evidence is "bulletproof". And to expect an indictment sometime after Monday.

It's not like I needed to post this, but... Unleash the pies!!!!!

3. I just heard him on Ian Masters' show on Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles
Ian Masters in my opinion has the best progressive radio show by far in America, Air America included. Leopold told him that Friday Fitzgerald, Rove, and his lawyer Luskin met all day in his lawyer's office. Fitzgerald offered a deal to Rove, to plea him out. Rove apparently refused to compromise and admit to a lesser crime. Therefore, Fitzgerald had no choice but to hand Luskin the indictment, giving Rove "24 hours to clean up his affairs". According to Leopold, we should know sometime Tuesday about the indictment.

5. To get Rove's cooperation in nailing someone else.
Like Cheney, for example.

6. Like someone one level up.
That may or may not be the case. But I'd bet money it is.

He wouldn't plea to someone on a lower level, I wouldn't think...

7. Yup, Rove wouldn't mind ratting out a lower level guy
if he could save his own behind from trouble, and/or save his masters from embarrassment and legal jeopardy. Plea bargains always, always, always work up the chain from smaller to larger fish.

My guess is that Fitzgerald has something on Cheney and offered Rove a deal - a lesser charge with no prison time in exchange for information on what Cheney knew, when he knew it, and what he instructed White House staff to do about it. This is coming out right at the same time as Cheney's handwritten notes at the top of a news article are being made public. I think this is no coincidence.

8. Why would Fitz offer him 24 hours?
I don't get that, not at all.
Moreover, it's sort of a weird statement to make on a Friday.

Fitz has at least as much leverage for a plea bargain with Rove indicted as he does with him under investigation.

I admit to having trouble with this.
