Remember When CNN, MSRNC, ETC. Had Message Boards?
If my memory serves me correctly, it was about March 2001 when they were discontinued.
I found out about great Liberal/Democratic/Progressive websites from them.
Wonder if they'll ever start up again?
If yes, then why?
If no, then why?

Just Ding's little stroll down memory lane.

3. Yes, I remember the CNN message board.

It was during the Elian Gonzales furor which I was very interested in, and they had a Cuba forum. That was the first place that I became aware that other people felt the same way about the situation that I did, and that the media was attempting to manufacture opinions that strongly differed from those of most ordinary people from accross the political spectrum. I learned alot about the case that the media wasn't reporting, and also learned alot about Cuba that contradicted the myths that we get fed.

Then I lost my internet service for awhile, and when I got it back, I went looking for the boards again and couldn't find them.

I guess those gigantic corporate media conglomerates must not have liked the existence of public discourse that they weren't in control of. Thank God we have independent message boards and blogs now.

12. That was like the wild west
real time battle against freepers and other dimwitted species
(and a lot of fantastically smart people too... especially in CCNs international chats)

oh what fun

6. I used to do CNN politics chat
This was 1999-2000.

It was a free-for-all, for shizzle.

7. I was kicked off of all of them during the 2000 election dispute.
I remember one exchange in particular. I said "Why can't Republicans spell?" Response was "We have people to do that."

8. I know they shut CNN chat down because it got too hot for
the administration and the CNN bigwigs were pushing the service to the far right to compete with Pox.

That worked well, didn't it, boys?

I doubt they'll start up again, but IRC is still out there and doing fine, with news and political channels growing every month.
