His strength was his refusal to sell out. He was a a good independent (if there is such a thing as good repuke) who wouldnt sell his soul for a vote. He sold his strong suit for some votes.

Hes now a weak candidate that has neither the neocon vote nor the centrist vote. He lost that center . Really dumb political move .

That may top his idiot move to jump into bed with the guy who assaulted his family members.
