There's some really strong kool-aid out there folks!!!
I was invited to a luncheon by the Tampa Tribune yesterday. Every day, they have, in their opinion section, a "Letter Of The Day". Presumably their best LTTE that day. I got a nice certificate and letter for one that was published on August 25.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I received an invitation to a free luncheon in Tampa for writers of "Letters Of The Day". It was pretty nice. A decent spread in a nice place, and about 600 people attended. We were each allowed to bring a guest.

We got to mingle and chat with their editorial board, and they had a Q&A session before they awarded the Letter of the Year.

Anyone who has ever read the Tampa Tribune can easily discern that they are without doubt, a right-wing rag. Much more than their competitor, The St. Pete Times. For some reason, I get published in the Trib more often than the Times.

Well, anyway during the Q&A, this woman got up to the mike, who made the John Birch Society look like Progressive Democrats of America. She said whe was a Korean War, Marine Corp veteran, and said that there were 4 MAJOR, LIBERAL, LEFT-WING CORPORATIONS, that controlled almost all the media content in this country, and they had to approve anything that was printed, and was the Tampa Tribune a part of this cabal. And why weren't they reporting all the good things happening in Iraq?

I actually felt sorry for the editorial page manager who was trying to answer her. But she did hit on something. So many journalists are being killed over there (I think she said over 1,700), that it wasn't even newsworthy anymore. She then went into trying to explain that indeed good things were happening, but it was too dangerous for the reporters to get out the story. In fact, her friend was beheaded a couple of weeks ago.

Now, I can almost understand the super-freeper, because she's batshit crazy. But, why would the editorial page manager even attempt apologia, after her friend had been beheaded.

Strong kool-aid indeed.

3. Well, by freeper reasoning,...
...the journos just aren't doing their job by finding those feel-good stories. If they'd quit fuckin' around, gettin' their heads cut off, etc., they'd do a better job of staying on-message for the administration.

4. Um, can you possibly source
the number of journalists killed in Iraq? I'm a little skeptical that it's more than half the number of American soldiers killed there.

8. Not my source. Her reference.
And I could be mistaken, but I don't think so.

who was beheaded!

See what these RWers do to a perfectly good mood day?

is once you've had some, you want more. And before you know it you're tossing it dry down your throat like Pixie Straws.

12. Ok thanks. Maybe I misheard, or she was full of shit.
Either is a distinct possibility.

On a probability scale I probably didn't hear right.
