2. Modern Country "Music" base sucks, to say the least
Edited on Sun May-14-06 06:51 PM by AX10
I have no repect for the genre, I wouldn't save it falling off a cliff. They are on a collective basis, right wing, anti-women, fascists. Mint Julip comes to mind. With that said, I commend the
Dixie Chicks for their bravery to speak out against Bush and co, seeing that their fan base are supporters of Bush. It is quite sad to see that Country Music has devolved into the right wing abiss over the years. As Natalie Maines just said, Country devolved into "redneck music" in more recent times.

6. Hey, give me Mother Maybell Carter when I'm in a Country mood...
Country music has been nothing but soft rock since the late 70's or before.

17. Well, I guess Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are Dems.
He is possibly considering running for office in TN later.

They bashed Bush re Katrina and love Bill Clinton so not everyone is RW.

I missed the DC on 60 Minutes because we went out to dinner but I taped so I'll watch it later.

10. same HERE
can't stand most country, especially the new stuff.

it's an oxymoron, mostly

they ARE sweet-voiced singers, and their songs are not lame

''There was a rumor
of a tumor
nestled at the base of his brain''--The Ballad of Charles Whitman

now THAT's country!

18. I'm pretty eclectic
I like old school rap. I like, of course, classic rock (I AM a professional boomie). I like ska. I like Social Distortion, the Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I like Pearl Jam but not Nirvana. I love Talking Heads. I like Dan Zanes and Norah Jones and Sade. I like old time country and bluegrass. I like Big Band and some light jazz. I can't abide opera, contemporary free form jazz or most 20th century classical music. I'm lukewarm about Broadway.

And I love..absolutely love sacred music, particularly Bach cantatas.

20. Aw, I love them
and i really need to dl some of their new songs.

They're the only country that I like. Because most country (nowdays) is a bunch of psydo-patriotic "I lurvve Amurka and GEEEEEE DUBBBBBBZ" shit. That and the Contemporary Christian (it sounds like they're trying too hard "*duh duh duh duh* JESUS IS MY SAVIOR *duh duh duh duh*) genre are my least favorites.

21. True. The only way to "succeed" in Nashville these days...
is be a Bushbot or an "Xtian".

22. But even
Toby Keith has become a bit less of a Bushbot, at least publicly.

I'm sure he still (mistakenly) wants to put his Freeper boot up Saddam's a$$! He just doesn't say it to the press anymore.

23. Of course.
Exept for those Nashville indie bands. I don't know if their BushBots or not. Probably, because the words "indie" and "love" and "george bush" are NOT supposed to go in the same sentance.
