4. OTHER--I STAND with Fucking TWEETY, who broke the story FIRST
And I don't particularly CARE for Tweety. But he did beat Truthout by a DAY!!!! And he sure was sputtering and juiced up during that interview!!

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/05/12/matthews-on-rove-indictment-it-could-be-today/

Who has actual personal, phone-call-n-meeting, social CONTACT with Rove? Why, Tweety!! Who told Tweety that "Joe Wilson's wife is fair game?" Why, ROVE!

When the Novak story ran, identifying not the C.I.A. as the source of the leak but "two senior administration officials," Wilson says, he called Novak and said, "When you asked for the confirmation you said a 'C.I.A. source.'" "I misspoke," Wilson says Novak replied. (Novak declined to comment.)

In the days after the Novak column ran, a producer from ABC-Wilson will not say who-phoned him at home and said, "They're saying things about you at the White House so off-the-wall we can't even put them up." NBC's Andrea Mitchell called him that weekend, he says, and told him that sources at the White House were telling her, "The real story here is not the 16 words-the real story is Wilson and his wife." Next, Wilson got a call from a journalist whom he won't name-but who is widely thought to be Chris Matthews-who, according to Wilson, gushed, "I just got off the phone with Karl Rove. He says your wife is fair game. I gotta go." Click.

So, you really need a third option on your poll. Tweety broke it on Imus, Friday morning!

7. MADem - I disagree - Tweety did *not* break the story.
Tweety did not commit to saying that "Rove *will* be indicted - he uses "IF" throughout the piece posted on ThinkProgress. IF something happens, IF it's going to happen, it's a big IF...

MATTHEWS: If, however, something happens with Karl Rove, we’re going to go to general quarters around here.

IMUS: What does that mean?

MATTHEWS: Meaning we will be taping probably on Saturday or late night because everything will change. Last time, when he picked up Scooter, when he nailed him 30 years of charges, that happened on 1:00 on a Friday. So we don’t know when it might happen, if it’s going happen.

IMUS: Are we expecting something with Karl Rove today?

MATTHEWS: Well, it could be today. It could be next week. Everybody is buzzing about when or if. It’s a big if, big when. There is a lot of talk because he is still being interviewing by the special prosecutor. He keeps being hauled before the grand jury. So something is going on here with the special prosecutor. We don’t know whether he is going to CLEAR HIM or nail him.

11. I watched the full interview, live. He was lathered up
You could tell he sensed something was gonna happen, and he was HOPING for Friday. He was chomping at the bit. His face, body language, he was worked up. He said if not Friday, next week. He was prepared to reschedule his weekend show and work all night if the story broke.

He was ass covering, sure, perhaps because he hadn't nailed down a confirmation from the prosecutor's end of things, but my strong sense is that someone credible, someone who feels free to talk (NOW? Scottie, maybe?? Andy Card???) told him something. Who knows, maybe it was Rove himself? He's been dropping stories around town, supposedly, that he "thinks" he's gonna be indicted. He's been saying he thinks it is gonna happen for many months now:

Rove remains a focus of the CIA leak probe. He has told friends it is possible he still will be indicted for providing false statements to the grand jury.

"Everyone thinks it is over for Karl and they are wrong," a source close to Rove said. The strategist's legal and political advisers "by no means think the part of the investigation concerning Karl is closed."

12. If you had to read his body language to guess the story then he did not
report the story. Reporting is saying it in words, taking a risk. IF, WHEN, IF, IF, IF -- are not reporting. Tweety did not break the story, plenty of people have been talking about IF IF IF for months, months, months.

:(

18. Go find the interview then, and watch it yourself if you are not satisfied
with my account. All I can say is, Tweety wasn't wrong, at least not yet. If the week passes and nothing comes out, then he's been burned by a source.

;-)

I saw the video. I'm not willing to call what I saw and what I read -- with all of those 'ifs' -- breaking the story. Insufficient guts. Insufficient glory.

5. You Really Need More Options... Like I REALLY REALLY Want
to believe it. Or It REALLY REALLY looks good. I'm not committing because I'm sick of getting my hopes dashed. I downloaded the transcript of the Libby Grand=jury testimony, and Libby's lawyer was so going on and on and on ABOUT the trip to Niger, and the Court kept saying they didn't want to try the war. It was certainly enough to make me shake my head more than a few times.... sooooooooo Leopold probably has the goods.

Next question is, will it fly?? Remember, IGNORANCE is Bliss! And that's what these IGNORANT people in WH are banking on!

14. I guess I'm now a naysayer.
It still hasn't been explained how an indictment can be issued without our hearing about it officially. The story also seems to be changing, too--has there been an indictment, or were we promised one within twenty-four hours of Friday? Or was it twenty-four business hours?

As much as I wanted to believe, it looks as though the story was wrong. The grand jury's meeting tomorrow, and we may see the indictment then, but Wednesday is not Friday.

If the apparent contradictions can be resolved, though, I'll happily applaud Mr. Leopold's victory dance. Does anyone see a way that the story could possibly still be correct?

15. I don't believe Leopold.
I think he made it up.

That doesn't mean Rove won't be indicted. It's just that Leopold has no sources, IMO.

I'm afraid Truthout will go down with the lying bastard.
