An unabashed true liberal just won Kentucky's 3rd district primary...
John Yarmuth easily defeated his Republican-lite opponent Andrew Horne, and bested two other also-rans with 93% of precincts reporting: 54%, 32%, 8% and 6%. I had almost forgotten what it was like to vote for a candidate that I BELIEVED in rather than someone that I thought could muster the red neck vote. Yarmuth will hopefully unseat Rep. Anne Northup of Kentucky's 3rd District, which includes the Louisville area. Go Yarmuth!:toast:

6. Kentucky was Democratic POST-Dixiecrat, as well...
Louisville, in particular, is VERY liberal, for the most part.

that's all. One usually associates "Dixiecrats" with Robert Byrd's KKK days.

9. You Bet They Were!!!
And I also remember when FLORIDA was on my side too! I can't remember his name right now, a older gentleman who died some years back, NOT Chiles... before him. What a kind person he seemed to be, fought for the seniors all the time.

Also, what was the name of the former Governor who's name started with an A! And NO, I'm NOT completely over-the-hill... only a Boomer! Oh, Oh, Askew, I think!

I so miss so many of them! We hardly have ANYONE left for us here. Bill Nelson just sent me a reply to a letter I sent to him. 2nd reply in many many years. It was about Iran. I should post it... he was so "sitting on the fence" about attacking them!

8. Unless Northup is directly responsible for the 4,000 new UPS jobs...
that were announced today, then I'm not so sure it will be a fully uphill battle. I think Louisvillians are just as sick of Bush-associated politicians as the rest of the country seems to be.

23. just going by the past results--it was 22% in '04, but a mere 3.2% in '02!
this is still great news--I'm stuck with Gary Miller in "the OC." He thinks nature preserves and pollution controls are Commie plots to weaken our economy. Louisville Rising!

16. And this IS significant because he IS a major liberal...
Edited on Tue May-16-06 08:23 PM by Imagine My Surprise
if he wins, Louisville will have a progressive Jewish mayor AND a progressive Jewish 3rd district Rep. Not bad for the freakin' Bible, belt, huh? Yarmuth's win is significant because I had arguments with so-called liberal friends who said, "well if he wins the primary, I'll support him in the general" -- bullshit! And some of these "democrats" were supporting someone who was essentially a Republican. About freakin' time!

21. From the Stupid KY republican files...

I got up this morning and went to vote only to find out their were NO REPUBLICANS on the ballot and I couldn't vote till November. The lady at the polls couldn't find my name and she "WHISPERED", "are you a Republican?", I spoke back in a louder voice, "YES! I'm a Proud Republican!" She said, "well, there's nothing for Republicans to vote on til November and I said out loud, "You mean to tell me I got up and took a shower for NOTHING?"

Well, at least she was concerned about hygiene...most hillbillies only bathe on Saturdays.

25. HA! Got this in an email from my mom today. I'll have to send her that one
And we wonder why the country is in such a bad shape?

Some guy bought a new refrigerator for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: "Free to good home. You want it, you take it". For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided that people were too untrusting of this deal. It looked too good to be true, so he changed the sign to read: "Fridge for sale $50" The next day someone stole it. Caution! . . . . . . . . . .

These people Vote

=======

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was North because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the North ?When my brother explained that the sun rises in the East, (and has for sometime), she shook her head and said, "Oh, I don't keep up with that stuff". . . . . . . .

She ALSO votes!

==========

I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, "The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time? "Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific" . . . . . . . .He ALSO votes!

==========

My colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria, when we overheard one of the administrative assistants talking about the sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the shore. She drove down in a convertible, but "didn't think she'd get sunburned because the car was moving". . . . . . . . . She ALSO votes!

==========

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car It's designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk . .

My sister ALSO votes!

==========

My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. The cashier multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount . . . . . .

He ALSO votes!

==========

I was hanging out with a friend when we saw a woman with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain. My friend said, "Wouldn't the chain rip out every time she turned her head?" I explained that a person's nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned. . . . . . . . . . . My friend ALSO votes!

=========

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands. "Now," she asked me, "has your plane arrived yet? "

. . . . . . SHE ALSO votes!

=========

While working at a Pizza Parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He though about it for some time before responding. "Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat
6 . . . . . . . . . .Yep, he votes too.

24. John will have enough footage of Northup kissing Bush's ass...
to hopefully down those fast approaching swiftboats. I'm sure Northup will say Yarmuth publishes a weekly newspaper that promotes homosexuality and all manner of abomination (read: the progressive alternative to the now Gannett-owned once liberal Courier-Journal newspaper.) But I think people in this area just may be sick of Bush-connected Congress reps. Let's hope so.

Nothup got north of 60% in 2004, and will probably walk away with a similar margin this time.

However, calling Andrew Horne "Republican-lite" is bullshit. There's really no need to be insulting. Let's hope Yarmuth can take it in November.
